Chapter 64 – Apocalypse Arc: Zombie Siege: Rebirth in the Apocalypse—My Secret Lover (02)
Bai Yun had just carried Shao Licang upstairs when a commotion of hurried footsteps echoed through the alley below. She hid in the stairwell and peeked outside, spotting five fierce-looking men, each armed with a wooden club, rushing in and rummaging through the piles of garbage.
Holding her breath, Bai Yun quietly tiptoed upstairs and shut the door, not daring to turn on the lights. Fortunately, this was an abandoned building, reeking of trash, which helped mask the scent of Shao Licang’s blood from his injuries after jumping out of the car.
The footsteps climbed the stairs, then descended again. Bai Yun pressed herself against the door and waited for a long time. Only when the place had fallen into complete silence did she dare to relax, but she still didn’t open the door.
The unconscious man was carelessly dumped onto the floor. Well, the male lead has plot armor—he won’t die anyway.
Still, to avoid making him hold a grudge when he woke up, Bai Yun kindly tossed a tattered tablecloth over him. Given her financial situation, that was the best she could do—more than generous, she thought to herself with zero guilt.
As dawn broke, Bai Yun confirmed that the men downstairs had left. She then rummaged through Shao Licang’s pockets, found his wallet, and took it with her to buy some necessities. Surely the male lead wouldn’t mind—he wouldn’t let his life-saving benefactor starve, would he?
Meanwhile, Bai Tang, still deep in sleep, had a vague, instinctual feeling—his Ah Wu was coming for him.
The pain in his bones made him let out a soft groan.
“Tang Tang! Tang Tang, are you having a nightmare? Tang Tang…” The system’s anxious voice echoed in his mind, but no matter how much it shouted, it couldn’t wake him up.
Shao Licang, on the other hand, was stirred awake by the sound of muffled sobbing. His obsidian-like eyes opened, dark and unreadable, as if nothing in the world could truly enter his gaze.
This wasn’t his villa. The stained, peeling walls, the stifling, rancid air, and the stinging pain from the wounds on his back—all told him one thing: someone had saved him.
Could it be the person inside this room?
Supporting himself up, Shao Licang moved, and the dirt-streaked tablecloth slid off his expensive suit.
A soft murmur escaped as Bai Tang slowly opened his shimmering, watery eyes.
“Ah Wu… it hurts…” His sweet, childlike voice carried a hint of spoiled affection, the expression on his face both pained and content.
“I’m not him.”
He got the wrong person. Shao Licang felt an inexplicable sense of loss. The boy seemed to be mistaking him for someone else, and that realization stirred an unfamiliar jealousy within him. He was jealous of whoever this “Ah Wu” was.
“Ah Wu… Ah Wu… it hurts… hug…” Bai Tang, dazed by the pain, stubbornly reached out his arms, his bright eyes gradually welling up with shimmering tears.
Why won’t Ah Wu hold me? Does Ah Wu not like me anymore?
Tears slid down his pale cheeks, soaking into what was considered the “best” bedsheet in the entire room.
A sharp pain clenched Shao Licang’s heart. He instinctively stepped forward and embraced the boy. The moment Bai Tang fell into his arms, the emptiness in his chest suddenly felt whole.
Forget about that ‘Ah Wu,’ alright? From now on, let me take care of you.
“Where does it hurt? Tell me,” Shao Licang asked anxiously.
“Ah Wu, it hurts~” Bai Tang buried his face in Shao Licang’s chest, refusing to move. If he had to suffer, he’d rather do it in Ah Wu’s arms.
One wanted Bai Tang to speak, while the other refused to lift his head. Just as the silent standoff continued, Bai Yun returned home.
!!!
What the hell?! Male lead—hey! What are you doing? Put down my little brother ! That’s my little brother !
“Tang Tang, is it hurting again?” Bai Yun dumped the rice and vegetables she had just bought and immediately yanked Bai Tang away, glaring at Shao Licang as if he were a sworn enemy.
