Chapter 60 – Ancient Era: A Dance to Enchant the City—The Emperor’s Celestial Fairy (30)
“You’ve been watching for quite some time. Isn’t it about time you showed yourself?”
The black-clad man in combat robes—Wu Xian, the Demon Sect’s leader—gazed toward Bai Tang’s hiding spot with a smirk that wasn’t quite a smile.
The little squirrel instantly felt a chill down his spine.
He was just about to obediently surrender when suddenly, someone leaped down from a nearby tree.
Dressed in flowing white robes, Lu Feishen cradled his longsword in his arms and spoke to Wu Xian with an icy tone:
“Since you already have Divine Healer Leng, perhaps you should stop pestering Shang’er.”
Wu Xian scoffed. “Tsk, only you would treat that woman like a treasure.”
“Clang—”
Lu Feishen unsheathed his sword, his expression dark.
“Say that again.”
Wu Xian remained utterly unbothered.
Instead, he simply nudged Leng Qingqiu behind him.
“It’s not up to you, nor is it up to me. Why don’t we let her family decide what kind of person Bai Shang really is?”
Then, his gaze shifted toward the flower bed.
“Little friend hiding over there, you might as well come out now.”
Bai Tang, who had been quietly preparing to make his escape, stiffened.
He had been spotted.
With no other choice, he slowly stood up.
Rubbing his nose in embarrassment, he greeted them awkwardly.
“Who are you? What’s your relationship with Shang’er?”
Lu Feishen pointed his sword directly at Bai Tang.
The little squirrel—spoiled and accustomed to being doted on—suddenly flared up.
So what if Jiang Liangwu was unconscious?
Just because he was alone, they thought they could bully him?
“What does it matter to you? Who I am and who I’m with is none of your business.”
“His name is Bai Tang—your dear Bai Shang’s biological younger brother~” Wu Xian kindly reminded them, though he was clearly enjoying the drama unfolding before him.
Sure enough, upon hearing this, Lu Feishen’s expression darkened.
So this was Bai Shang’s brother?
The heartless traitor who had forced Shang’er into exile?
Without hesitation, he raised his sword and lunged at Bai Tang.
“Swish—”
A small stone suddenly struck the blade. The razor-sharp edge barely missed Bai Tang’s scalp, slicing off a single strand of hair that floated gently to the ground.
Bai Tang was shocked.
He hadn’t expected this man to try and take his life without even a word.
Heart pounding, he patted his chest in lingering fear.
“You dare cause trouble and spill blood in my Butterfly Valley? You are not welcome here.” Leng Qingqiu, who had remained silent until now, spoke up in an icy tone.
He glanced at Wu Xian with a warning look—Did he not realize that this was the Empress Consort?
Was Wu Xian trying to get Butterfly Valley wiped out?
Even Wu Xian hadn’t expected Lu Feishen to be this reckless.
How easily deceived.
With just a few words, that woman Bai Shang had managed to twist him around her little finger.
Did he never bother to investigate her true nature?
Anyone in the capital could tell him who she really was.
“Tang Tang, that Lu Feishen is the Martial Alliance Leader, and he adores the female lead. He’s evil! He even tried to kill you! I curse him!”
The system furiously pulled out a straw doll, chanting Lu Feishen’s name as it plunged a needle into the figure.
At that exact moment—
“Ah—!”
Lu Feishen suddenly clutched his head and collapsed, writhing on the ground in pain.
“Wu Xian, was this your doing?”
Leng Qingqiu frowned.
Wu Xian raised his hands in surrender. “Wasn’t me.”
Bai Tang picked up the medicine he had set on the ground and glanced at the two men still examining Lu Feishen.
“I’m heading back first.” Leng Qingqiu’s voice softened as he reassured Bai Tang.
“Go ahead. Jiang Liangwu should wake up after taking the medicine two more times. Don’t worry too much.”
Bai Tang, hearing this, finally smiled for the first time in days.
“Alright. Thank you.”
Wu Xian watched Bai Tang’s retreating figure, carrying the medicine, and suddenly let out a chuckle.
“I finally understand why Jiang Liangwu is so obsessed with him.”
What a delightful little thing.
Leng Qingqiu, still checking Lu Feishen’s pulse, didn’t even lift his head as he remarked, “What, do you want to be obsessed with him too?”
Wu Xian immediately straightened up and swore his loyalty. “Never! My heart belongs only to you!”
So much for the dignified Demon Sect leader.
Strangely, Leng Qingqiu couldn’t detect anything wrong with Lu Feishen’s body.
And before long, Lu Feishen’s condition simply… resolved itself.
Lu Feishen lay on the ground, panting in embarrassment.
Wu Xian smirked and said playfully, “Go back and do a proper investigation on your Bai Shang. Is she really as kind and harmless as you think?”
He simply didn’t like seeing Qingqiu waste his time on irrelevant people.
Wouldn’t it be better if he paid more attention to me instead?
Author’s Note:
I’ve dismantled all of the female lead’s harem—internal redistribution!
Looks like the Martial Alliance Leader is beyond saving.
In the next chapter (word count: 0, haven’t started writing yet), Jiang Liangwu is finally going to wake up!
Once we deal with the female lead and that supporting female character, this world will be complete.
Honestly, I feel like I rushed this part, but I just don’t want to write about this female lead anymore.
The more I think about it, the more I don’t want to.
I can’t believe I’m getting annoyed at my own character.
Oh my god, I’m sorry, female lead. My bad, my bad! 😭
