Chapter 450 – Palpitations from That World – It’s You Again! (18)
“Does the wound hurt?” Wen Junnan looked extremely nervous, his hands trembling as he tried to untie the bandage wrapped around Bai Tang’s waist to check.
Acting like a pro, Bai Tang grabbed Wen Junnan’s hand. “I—I’m fine.” That almost went too far.
Meeting Bai Tang’s evasive gaze, unable to look him in the eye, Wen Junnan’s mind instantly cleared. Following Bai Tang’s occasional glances toward Li Tefeng and Ning Sitong, who were talking nearby, how could he not understand?
“Little jealous mouse.” The man chuckled indulgently. His warm breath brushed against Bai Tang’s neck, making him shiver involuntarily as a blush spread upward from his neck.
“I—I…” Bai Tang stammered, unable to explain himself. But when he saw his own reflection in Wen Junnan’s brown eyes, he suddenly found the courage. “You’re not allowed to look at other girls.”
“No other girl is as good-looking as Tang Tang. I won’t look at them.”
“So you mean if someone prettier than me shows up, then you can look?”
“No. I promise I won’t look. If I do, you can gouge my eyes out.”
Although Bai Tang’s reaction had a bit of embarrassment and unreasonable jealousy mixed in, he had to admit he was comforted by Wen Junnan’s words. Listening to him, his heart felt sweet.
The break ended, and the game resumed.
The bottle began to spin. When it stopped this time, the mouth of the bottle pointed at Ning Sitong.
It had to be said—the female lead was indeed the female lead. Her “protagonist aura” played a crucial role at critical moments.
Ning Sitong smiled faintly. “I choose truth.”
Sitting opposite her, Li Pai asked in a gloomy tone, “How can we leave this place—leave this cursed game—and never have to come back?”
As soon as the question was asked, a sudden clap of thunder exploded in the sky. A terrifying bolt of lightning illuminated the entire room, before everything returned to calm the next second. The dim yellow light flickered, illuminating their small circle.
Ning Sitong’s smile slowly widened, and her words sent a chill down everyone’s spine: “Ah, so you’ve discovered it.”
What did that mean?!
Except for Wen Junnan, who was focused on Bai Tang, everyone else stared at Ning Sitong in shock.
Wei Xing stopped wailing, tears still clinging to his face. “Do you know something?”
Li Pai said, “She doesn’t just know—she’s the organizer of the game.” He had only just figured it out. Why else would Ning Sitong be so confident, completely unafraid? Wen Junnan also showed no fear, but he never involved himself in anything—he just seemed bold and didn’t really understand the game. Ning Sitong was different. From the moment they entered the house, she was the one who introduced the rules, guided the players, and every time, she alone remained unharmed while everyone else was affected to varying degrees.
“What? You…” Wei Xing stared at Ning Sitong in astonishment. “Why would you do this…?”
“Miss Ning, if you know how to leave this game, could you please tell us?” Chen Wan didn’t dare confront Ning Sitong like Wei Xing and Li Pai did. He hoped that by showing enough respect and lowering himself, she might spare him and let him go back.
Bai Tang also stopped acting spoiled toward Wen Junnan and waited for Ning Sitong’s answer. What he couldn’t understand was—why had Ning Sitong revealed her identity herself?
Ning Sitong ignored Chen Wan and Wei Xing. She looked straight at Li Pai and answered his question: “If you want to leave this game forever, there’s only one way—death.”
The firm, decisive answer, combined with the shock of her sister’s death, was too much for Wei Xing to bear. She collapsed to the ground and burst into tears. She didn’t want to die—she didn’t want to. Knowing people could die was one thing, but witnessing it was another—especially when the one who died was her sister, the only person she could trust there.
As Wei Xing cried out, “I don’t believe it! I don’t want to die!” the bottle began spinning again.
The more you fear something, the more it comes true. When the bottle pointed at Wei Xing, she completely broke down.
Truth or dare—she had no choice but dare.
Whether she agreed or not, she collapsed in sobs, dragged by an invisible force into the dream world.
Her foundation mixed with tears, smearing her eyeliner and makeup into a mess—it was an ugly sight. Not wanting Bai Tang to be frightened, Wen Junnan thoughtfully covered his eyes, just like before, shielding him from those nauseating scenes.
In the dream, Wei Xing was acting out the story she had told.
She ran wildly along a road late at night. After finally reaching a bus stop, she raised her wrist to check the time—the last bus had left two minutes ago. She had still missed it.
Muttering curses about her bad luck, she suddenly noticed the billboard behind her go dark. The light vanished, and a cold wind began to blow. She couldn’t help but shiver.
Just as she didn’t know what to do, two lights appeared in the distance, steadily moving toward her.
It was the last bus!
Wei Xing was overjoyed. She had been late tonight—who would’ve thought the last bus would be delayed too?
The bus stopped in front of her. She took out her transit card and boarded through the front door. After swiping her card, she froze.
It was her first time seeing the last bus completely full. Only one seat remained—in the very back row. Everyone sat in silence, upright in standard posture, staring straight ahead.
Wei Xing felt something was wrong and turned to get off, but the front door slammed shut with a bang. The engine started, and the bus slowly began to move forward…
Inside the house.
Everyone watched as Wei Xing, who was undergoing the dream dare, suddenly began convulsing violently. Foam formed at her mouth, her eyes rolled back, and before long, her limbs twisted as if struck by heavy blows, bending into angles no human body could normally achieve.
Another one gone.
The Wei sisters were completely wiped out.
Wei Xing’s condition was far more horrifying than Wei Wen’s. A faint smell of blood spread through the air.
Wen Junnan picked up a cup and fed Bai Tang some water. Before coming in, he had stuffed his pockets with snacks, but he hadn’t expected Bai Tang to be injured. Worried that eating might worsen his condition, he decided not to take them out.
After drinking a lot of water, nature called—Bai Tang needed to use the bathroom.
“A Nan, come with me,” Bai Tang said, pulling down the hand covering his eyes.
“Okay.” Wen Junnan positioned himself in front of Bai Tang, blocking his view so he wouldn’t see Wei Xing.
Bai Tang had an injury on his lower back, so Wen Junnan supported him all the way to the bathroom—and even after they arrived, he didn’t leave.
Wen Junnan stood there, staring at Bai Tang without blinking.
They had seen each other naked countless times, but Bai Tang still wasn’t used to being watched while using the bathroom—even if it was his own boyfriend. He turned and pushed him out. “A Nan, wait outside. I can manage on my own.”
With a bang, he shut the door. Patting his flushed face, Bai Tang finally relaxed—now he could use the bathroom in peace.
Just as he finished, a faint voice drifted from the stall next door: “Excuse me, would you like white toilet paper or blue toilet paper?”
Bai Tang: “…”
That strangely familiar voice—this couldn’t be what he thought it was, right? Anyway, the best choice was not to respond.
“An English Level-8 exam paper. If you don’t have it, get lost.”
The wisp that had finally been summoned cursed, “What the hell, why is it you again?!”
Bai Tang took a deep breath. “I should be the one asking that—why are you here?”
The wisp snapped back, “Can’t I travel across planes for a vacation once in a while?! Don’t think I forgot—you and that other guy mocked me before. I got laughed at by other wisps for months because of that. If I don’t get revenge, I’m not worthy of being called a man!”
The wisp let out a sinister chuckle. “You want English exam papers, right? I’ve got them—all of them. Complete sets from 233 countries and regions, compiled since the very first schools were established. Which year and which country do you want?”
Bai Tang: “…” Careless. There’s no way to argue back at all.
Following the principle of calling for help when you can’t win, Bai Tang raised his voice and shouted, “A Nan, A Nan, save me—!”
Hearing his cry for help, the wisp laughed even more wildly. “Go on, shout! Louder! Even if you scream your lungs out, no one’s coming to save you.”
Bai Tang steadied himself, recalling the wisp’s earlier words. A smile tugged at his lips. “I’ve recently been studying oracle bone script. I’d like a set of mock exam papers—three years of simulations and five years of real questions. Thanks.”
The wisp choked on his words at Bai Tang’s absurd request. “…” Damn it. That was careless.
“If you have it, hand it over. If not, get lost.”
The wisp fell silent for a moment, then said bitterly, “Don’t get too smug. We’ll meet again someday.”
Bai Tang replied calmly, “By the next time we meet, I might not be studying oracle bone script anymore.”
Bai Tang had been in the bathroom for too long, and Wen Junnan grew worried. He knocked on the door. “Tang Tang, are you done?”
“Not yet. You can go ahead,” came the reply.
Wen Junnan frowned.
Inside the bathroom, the young man’s mouth was covered by a black shadow. The answer just now had been imitated in Bai Tang’s voice.
Bai Tang struggled, making muffled “mmph mmph” sounds, hoping to alert Wen Junnan—hoping he wouldn’t be fooled by the wisp.
But the result was disappointing. From outside the door, Wen Junnan said, “Alright, I’ll go back to the game first. Come out soon when you’re done, Tang Tang.”
Footsteps sounded outside, gradually fading away.
The wisp whispered in Bai Tang’s ear, “See? Now no one can save you.”
Bai Tang’s eyes widened in disbelief. There was no way A Nan wouldn’t recognize his voice—no way.
In the blink of an eye, just as the wisp was about to stuff a sheet of white paper into Bai Tang’s hands, the bathroom door was suddenly kicked open with force. A figure flashed through the darkness. The wisp let out a shrill scream, and the grip restraining Bai Tang loosened.
“Tang Tang.” Wen Junnan supported Bai Tang’s back, quickly checking him over for any new injuries.
There was no better time to complain. Bai Tang wrapped his arms around Wen Junnan’s neck, whining tearfully, “A Nan, it was him! He bullied me—and even imitated my voice to trick you.”
The wisp’s biggest mistake had been underestimating how much Bai Tang depended on Wen Junnan. In a place filled with injuries and supernatural danger, there was no way Bai Tang would let Wen Junnan go back alone. Even if Bai Tang really had told him to leave, Wen Junnan would never have gone by himself.
After getting a clear look at Wen Junnan’s face, the wisp froze. Why is it this guy again? Were the two of them teaming up just to mess with him?
Valuing its life above all else, the wisp immediately dropped to its knees with a thud. “Spare me, my lord! I was wrong—I won’t dare do it again!” From now on, it would take a detour whenever it saw the two of them.
The appearance of a wisp from another world made Wen Junnan think of something. He asked Bai Tang, “Did he hurt you, Tang Tang?”
Bai Tang said proudly, “I’m too smart for that. How could a mere wisp possibly hurt me?”
Wen Junnan took in Bai Tang’s little expressions, watching his lively and slightly smug demeanor, and felt pleased no matter what.
“I have a plan that requires using him. After we’re done with him, you can deal with him however you like, alright?”
Wen Junnan’s voice was gentle, but to the wisp, it sounded like the voice of a devil.
Wisp: I have a bad feeling about this…
