Chapter 354 – Your Blood Is So Sweet – Chaotic Battle (20)
The roar Duke Adams let out right before the Pope dug out his heart served as an order to the vampires waiting outside, and they launched a large-scale massacre against the Church.
Edith quickly located the knight order that the Pope had reassigned and took command in resisting the vampires.
Duke Adams’s scheme was exposed, and Butler Norman rallied the blood clans loyal to the Prince. They stormed the Church to rescue their liege.
The three factions clashed fiercely, plunging the scene into utter chaos. Even though Edith knew Butler Norman had brought reinforcements, she still couldn’t distinguish friend from foe. Accidental injuries among allies happened at every moment.
It wasn’t until the revived Duke Adams ambushed Edith that Butler Norman blocked the fatal blow for her, finally allowing the leaders on both sides to regroup.
“Butler Norman, you must hold on! If you die, Trey will be eating Tang Tang’s food, living in Tang Tang’s place, sleeping in Tang Tang’s bed—and Tang Tang will have to keep beating him. With no one backing Tang Tang up, can you really rest easy?” Edith kept provoking him by bad-mouthing Trey.
And it actually worked.
Butler Norman instantly drew a breath and growled, “He dares?!”
Edith was overjoyed. “Of course he doesn’t dare when you’re here! Back at the castle, he wouldn’t have dared raise his voice at Tang Tang. But if you’re gone… well, who knows?”
With Edith’s support, Butler Norman struggled into a sitting position, panting heavily as he looked over the chaotic battlefield.
Duke Adams had also rejoined the fight, biting anyone he saw. Having had his heart removed, he desperately needed fresh blood to recharge so he could quickly regenerate a new one.
A hundred years ago, when the former vampire prince was escorting his beloved woman back to the city, the Church ambushed him—and the one who contributed the most to the attack was Duke Adams. At the time, Adams was the prince’s most prized subordinate, second only to Butler Norman in trust.
Adams pretended to rescue the wounded prince, but in truth, absorbed half of the prince’s inherited power.
Gravely injured, the former prince barely managed to wound Adams and escape back to the castle. Knowing his time was short, he used the last of his strength to pass the remaining half of his inherited power into Bai Tang—an infant less than a year old. Before he could explain anything else, he breathed his last.
The new prince was just a baby, far too young to govern the blood clan. With no alternative, Butler Norman entrusted the clan’s management to Duke Adams temporarily while he stayed at the castle to care for the young master.
And that care lasted for centuries.
Now that Bai Tang had fully absorbed the inherited power and grown up, he finally had the ability to reclaim the clan’s leadership—yet he fell right into Duke Adams’s schemes.
A man driven by ambition, once he tasted power, would never willingly hand it back.
He tried every possible method to kill Bai Tang and seize the supreme position of the blood clan for good.
Because of the half of the inherited power he stole, Duke Adams essentially gained an extra life—an extraordinarily strong healing and regenerative ability. However, his bloodline still wasn’t as pure as Bai Tang’s, and he needed large amounts of fresh blood and life force to sustain his self-healing.
People trapped in the chaos were falling one after another; it wouldn’t be long before Duke Adams reached their hiding place.
Gritting her teeth, Edith supported Butler Norman and moved toward a nearby pillar.
Edith had always been lucky (thanks to her protagonist’s halo). As long as she prayed in her heart, most of the time—eight or nine times out of ten—things would go her way.
But this time, fortune did not favor her. While she was helping Norman dodge attacks, they ended up right under Duke Adams’s nose.
Vampire blood was far more nourishing than that of ordinary humans; the purer the bloodline, the greater the effect.
Duke Adams fixed his gaze on Butler Norman. “So that’s where you were hiding. I wondered where you’d gone.”
Norman shoved Edith behind him. “Adams, you betrayed the Prince. The Blood Clan Council will never allow this.”
“The Council? Once I give the word, what does the Council matter?” Duke Adams didn’t take Norman’s warning seriously at all.
And as he said, once Adams controlled the entire blood clan, the Council would be nothing more than decoration.
Both Adams and Butler Norman understood this perfectly.
“Enough. I’ll send you to meet your former master right now.” Duke Adams launched his attack.
Norman pushed Edith away and engaged Adams head-on.
Edith could only see two dark figures clashing and separating rapidly, their sweeping cloaks knocking over the potted plants nearby. Soil and blood were smeared across the ground, so sticky that walking through it felt like stepping on glue.
Gravely injured, Butler Norman’s strength had dropped sharply. After exchanging dozens of blows with Duke Adams, he finally lost and was sent flying with a single palm strike.
At that critical moment, a vine shot out from somewhere and caught Butler Norman in midair, gently lowering him back to the ground.
Bai Tang caught Butler Norman from behind. “Good thing I made it in time.”
Edith shouted, “Butler Norman can’t hold on much longer—hurry up and save him!”
Norman’s face was as pale as paper, and he was hanging onto life by a single breath, waiting for Bai Tang to arrive.
Xiao A said, “Host, cut your skin and feed your blood to Butler Norman. That will at least suppress his injuries.”
Among vampires, the difference in rank was an uncrossable chasm. Even a single level of difference could completely overpower any vampire below it. This was why, despite stealing half the inherited power, Duke Adams still couldn’t defeat Bai Tang and instead chose indirect methods to kick him off the supreme throne.
Qiu’er said, “I have a Great Vitality Pill here—works for immortals, demons, spirits, and humans alike. Combined with Tang Tang’s blood, it won’t just heal Butler Norman; it will even raise his strength to a higher level.”
The stingy Qiu’er, remembering how devotedly Butler Norman had cared for Bai Tang, finally took out one of his treasured pills—the kind he’d won in past prize draws and never shared with anyone.
Bai Tang feared pain, but for Butler Norman, he braced himself.
Edith risked being struck by stray attacks and rushed to Bai Tang’s side. Bai Tang had her support Butler Norman, then pulled the dagger from Edith’s waist. The sight of its blade made him wince—this was going to hurt.
The little squirrel shut his eyes and cut a line across his wrist. Fresh blood welled up, releasing an irresistible, supreme fragrance that sent every vampire present into a frenzy.
Vampires stirred restlessly, and Duke Adams looked at the red blood on Bai Tang’s wrist with greedy, ravenous eyes.
Trey stepped in front of Duke Adams. “Your opponent is me.”
It already pained him enough to watch his little squirrel cut his wrist; if Duke Adams wanted to harm him further, he’d have to walk over Trey’s dead body first.
Relying on his boosted strength, Duke Adams sneered at him. “You yellow-haired brat. I’ll send you to meet your beloved God and beg Him for milk.”
“Arrogant fool.” Trey drew his lightsaber, focusing entirely on Duke Adams.
Black and white figures clashed midair. Trey’s lightsaber struck the piece of mysterious black iron summoned by Duke Adams, creating strange sparks that fell to the ground and ignited into roaring flames wherever they landed.
Those still fighting below were terrified. Humans feared fire, but vampires feared it even more—especially this fire, born from a lightsaber and infused with the holy light they dreaded most.
The vampires immediately stopped fighting and fled, and the knights seized the chance to counterattack.
Qiu’er lifted his head, eyes narrowing as he watched Trey battle Duke Adams. He studied the scene carefully, then turned on the camera to record everything.
That feeling again—
The male lead possessed a powerful light attribute that did not belong to this world. It felt incredibly familiar, yet Qiu’er couldn’t recall where he had seen it before.
Light and darkness were natural opposites. As the battle continued, Duke Adams gradually began to fall behind.
He refused to accept it.
He was a great vampire duke, the future vampire prince who would command the entire blood clan. How could he possibly lose to a mere human?
Duke Adams feinted, then shot down toward the ground. Without caring who his target was, he seized the nearest person and sank his fangs into their neck, draining every last drop of blood.
His depleted strength recovered rapidly, and the newly grown heart thumped violently in his abdomen.
Laughing with a mouthful of blood, Duke Adams rejoined the battle. Having fully merged with half the inherited power, he no longer feared Trey.
The black iron in his hands released a dense aura of darkness. Wherever it spread, it filled people with crushing despair. Knights fell one after another.
The tide of battle shifted. Earlier, Trey had been suppressing Duke Adams; now it was Duke Adams overpowering Trey.
After drinking Bai Tang’s blood, Butler Norman’s condition stabilized considerably.
He and Edith supported Norman out of the central battlefield. When Bai Tang glanced back, he saw Trey struck by Duke Adams, coughing up blood.
“Trey…”
Panicked, the little squirrel pushed off the ground with his toes and shot into the air, intercepting the black iron and lashing at Adams with vines.
Duke Adams did not expect Bai Tang to suddenly appear. He cut through the vine in front of him with his black iron, but countless more shot toward him from behind, snaring him in an instant.
Bai Tang ordered the vines to carry him and Trey safely back to the ground.
“Trey, don’t scare me… Are you okay?” His soft, milky voice trembled.
Bai Tang grabbed Trey’s hand. “Don’t die… please don’t die.”
Trey forced his eyes open, enduring the burning pain tearing through his organs. He mustered a faint smile. “I’m fine… don’t worry.”
“I’ll heal you right now.”
As soon as he said it, Bai Tang ignored everything Qiu’er had warned him about earlier. Enduring the pain caused by his own blood clashing violently with the light attribute inside him, he forced himself to heal Trey anyway.
Trey was human—he couldn’t be treated with the same methods used on vampires.
At that instant, the vines binding Duke Adams burst apart. He flashed behind Bai Tang, raising the black iron. As long as he pierced Bai Tang’s back, the other half of the inherited power would also become his.
“Tang Tang…”
With his back to Duke Adams, Bai Tang focused entirely on healing Trey, completely unaware that danger was already inches behind him.
This scene, however, fell directly into Trey’s line of sight. His bright blue eyes darkened into inky black, and a thick black mist seeped from his body.
He grabbed the black iron blade mere centimeters away from piercing Bai Tang’s back. The moment his blood touched the weapon, it turned pitch-black, dripping down his wrist and onto Bai Tang’s back.
“T-Trey…” Bai Tang’s voice trembled.
Trey placed one hand on the back of Bai Tang’s head and gently pulled him against his shoulder. “Don’t look.”
His tone was unbelievably gentle—so soft it was hard to imagine he was in the middle of a deadly fight.
A strange smile curved at Trey’s lips as he twisted his arm, driving the black iron backward into Duke Adams’s abdomen, piercing straight through his heart.
Author’s Note :
My little cuties have guessed the male lead’s identity so many times. Here’s a tiny hint—this power belongs to the male lead’s true identity. And since Qiu’er and the male lead share deep, complicated ties, that’s why Qiu’er finds it so familiar.
