Chapter 335 – Your Blood Is So Sweet – A Burst of Acting Skills (01)
[Points settlement: successfully breaking up the male and female leads — reward, 5,000 points.
Side mission — protect Zhang Ma and the male supporting character during the fire escape: completion rate 100%, reward, 800 points.]
“Huh? Why are the points so high in this world?” In the past, it had always been just 1,000 points. Why had it suddenly changed? Bai Tang was utterly confused.
Qiu’er glanced at the main system and explained, “Because the world barrier in the previous world wasn’t very stable. This is compensation from the Heavenly Dao for Tang Tang.”
Of course, he didn’t mention that it was actually because Tang Tang’s soul had become unstable — the male lead had drained the Heavenly Dao, forcing it to grant extra points.
Speaking of which, Qiu’er had observed for decades in that previous world. Ever since the fire, Xi Yuanhan had never shown any abnormalities again. Qiu’er couldn’t even find a chance to observe him, and the main system couldn’t retrieve any data either. It was enough to drive a ball crazy with frustration.
Xiao A patted Qiu’er’s dog head. “Things will work out when the time comes. As long as he’s not a threat to our host, does it really matter what kind of background the male lead has?”
There was no way to dig deeper anyway. Qiu’er deflated like a leaky balloon and sprawled across Xiao A’s belly, the two dogs rolling around together.
“Fine, we’ll let him off for now,” Qiu’er grumbled, still sulky.
Bai Tang was long used to the two systems acting all lovey-dovey, so he ignored them. He picked up the book on the table and began reviewing the plot of the next world.
The next world was a more fantastical one — set in a medieval era where the Church and vampires both thrived.
The male lead, Trey Lewis, was the captain of the Church’s Order of Commoner Knights, responsible for daily patrols and keeping watch for vampires that might harm civilians.
The female lead, Edith Diana, was the Church’s chosen Saintess, blessed with the attribute of Light.
Internal strife within the Church was severe. Although both the male and female leads served the Church, they belonged to opposing factions: Edith Diana was part of the “Orthodox Preservation Faction,” while Trey Lewis represented the rising “Commoner Reform Faction.”
The two sides frequently clashed in opinion, yet ultimately shared the same goal — to eradicate vampires.
Edith was intelligent and resourceful, while Trey was both brave and strategic. The two often argued, yet through their bickering they always managed to reach a consensus. During their battles of wits and strength against the vampires, they gradually came to admire each other, developing mutual affection — and the disputes between their factions began to ease.
Vampires fed on human blood. Greedy for pleasure and given to slaughter, they made every night—especially nights of the full moon—their paradise. Commoners dared not venture outdoors, but even hiding quietly at home did not guarantee safety. Misfortune could strike at any moment; once targeted by a vampire, a person would simply vanish.
As more and more civilians disappeared, people flooded to the Church, crying and begging for protection. In response, the Church decided to send its Saintess and the Knight Captain to deal with the matter.
The two disguised themselves as siblings and deliberately traveled at night, intending to lure vampires into capturing them.
The vampires who abducted them presented the pair to their newly awakened Vampire Prince — who happened to be the naive and sweet-natured supporting male character of this world, Tang.
The male supporting character was the son of the former Vampire Prince and a human woman. Shortly after Tang Tang’s birth, the former Prince fell into an ambush set by the Church. Before his death, he passed his inherited power to Tang. Unable to withstand the overwhelming strength, the newborn Tang Tang fell into a deep sleep, during which he slowly absorbed the inherited power, his body growing as he slumbered.
Tang Tang had never tasted human blood and had met very few people. His temperament was pure and innocent. Only one vampire butler had remained by his side, guarding him through the centuries of his slumber.
After his awakening, all vampires were summoned by instinct to celebrate the Prince’s return. They began capturing humans on a massive scale.
At the celebratory feast, Edith’s sacred and gentle beauty captivated Tang Tang. Moved by affection, he could not bear to see her drained of blood and die, so he took her back to his castle instead.
Trey watched helplessly as Edith was taken away, then fought desperately to escape from the banquet alive.
The male supporting character had no intention of harming Edith. Wanting to make her happy, he even invited Trey to the castle as a guest. Under Edith’s subtle persuasion, Tang Tang revealed much information about vampires — secrets unknown to the Church, which was precisely why the Church had never been able to completely eradicate them.
The butler, sensing something amiss, attempted to kill Edith, but Tang Tang risked his own life to protect her. Unable to defy his prince, the butler could only imprison Edith in the castle, forbidding her to leave.
But it was already too late — Trey had sent word back to the Church.
Soon after, the Church declared war on the vampires. Edith and Trey coordinated from within and without, breaching the vampire stronghold. During the final battle, when Tangtang fought against the Church’s knights, Edith ambushed him. The vampire clan fell into ruin; the survivors scattered, living on in hiding and misery.
When Bai Tang arrived in this world, the plot had just reached the night before the banquet.
Trey and Edith were hurrying through the forest, seemingly rushing toward the city — but in truth, their goal was to lure the vampires out.
Bai Tang rubbed his temples. This body had just awakened from a thousand-year slumber; his limbs were stiff from the long sleep, and his head still felt foggy.
The butler approached, holding an exquisite silver tray. A finely cut crystal goblet sat atop it, reflecting dazzling colors under the candlelight.
“Good day, Your Highness. You’ve just awakened — please, take some nourishment.”
The goblet was filled with a crimson liquid. The faint metallic tang of blood wafted into Bai Tang’s nose — sharp and rust-like, yet strangely sweet and tempting.
Bai Tang swallowed hard and forced himself to look away from the tray. “I’m not hungry. Take it away.”
“Good job, Tang Tang — you mustn’t drink it,” Qiu’er urged earnestly. “This body of yours has never tasted blood before. Your vampire nature hasn’t been awakened yet. Right now, you’re no different from an ordinary human. But once you drink blood, the inherited power within you will activate — and you’ll truly become a vampire.”
In the original storyline, all of the male supporting character’s tragedies stemmed from that identity — and from the heroine. But as long as Bai Tang never awakened his bloodline, he could live out a peaceful, human life. As for the mission to break up the male and female leads… well, Qiu’er had completely forgotten about that. To him, Bai Tang’s safety was the first and only priority now.
Qiu’er might have forgotten, but Xiao A hadn’t.
Xiao A checked the timeline. “There’s still one hour before the male and female leads are captured by vampires. If the host goes there now and prevents their capture, it could stop everything that follows right at the source.”
Bai Tang’s eyes brightened. Of course — if Edith and Trey never made it to the banquet, then none of the subsequent events would happen. And as he was now, he certainly wouldn’t be the one to take Edith back to the castle. As long as the heroine never learned the ultimate method to destroy vampires, everything would remain fine.
Bai Tang shot Xiao A an approving look. “You’re really smart, Xiao A.”
Xiao A said nothing, but his wagging tail betrayed how pleased he was by the praise.
With Qiu’er and Xiao A’s help, Bai Tang teleported to the small forest where the male and female leads were “acting out” their plan.
He changed out of his luxurious robes and into a rough hemp garment, deliberately mussing his smooth hair.
He tried to make himself look as disheveled and pitiful as possible — like a traveler lost in the woods. That way, the justice-driven and compassionate leads would naturally stop to “help him home,” allowing him to avoid the fate of being captured by vampires forty minutes later.
Once everything was ready, Bai Tang sat beneath a tree along the path the two would pass, waiting patiently for his “prey” to take the bait.
About ten minutes later, the rustling of leaves and the sound of footsteps approached from afar, gradually drawing closer.
When the two figures came within sight, Bai Tang called softly, “Is anyone there? Can someone help me?”
The boy’s voice was gentle and tender — as sweet as honeyed water.
The pair stopped walking, pausing to pinpoint the direction of the sound.
Edith said warily, “It’s so late — how could anyone be in the forest at this hour? Be careful, it might be a trap.”
Trey, however, replied, “No matter what, we should at least take a look. What if someone really does need help?”
There was another reason he didn’t tell Edith. He had a strange feeling — as though something unseen was guiding him toward that voice calling for help. If he ignored it, he would regret it. He was certain he would.
With Trey’s level of skill, even encountering a vampire wouldn’t pose much of a threat.
Edith didn’t try to stop him; she only said quietly, “Be careful.”
They followed the direction of the voice. The closer they got, the clearer it became.
By the light of the moon, they saw a young boy sitting beneath a tree — the source of the cry for help.
He wore coarse, rough-spun clothing — something a pleasure-seeking vampire would never lower themselves to wear.
Vampires, after all, had their own twisted sense of pride and principle. They preyed on commoners only because nobles were harder to catch, and while they drank human blood, their refined tastes meant they rarely took an interest in the poor.
“Hello,” the boy said softly, lifting his head. “Could you… help me?”
His delicate face, framed by tousled hair, was on the verge of tears — pitiful in a way that stirred a deep urge to comfort him, to draw him into one’s arms and soothe him.
So beautiful…
That was the thought that flashed through both Trey and Edith’s minds.
Silver moonlight bathed the boy, and even the rough fabric of his clothes couldn’t hide his beauty. His clear eyes shone like starlight reflected in a still lake, as if a pure, holy angel had fallen into the mortal world.
Trey stepped forward instinctively, intending to take off his cloak and drape it over the boy’s shoulders — only to realize that he, too, had changed into commoner’s clothes tonight. His were the same rough hemp fabric, though without the rips and tears that marred the boy’s. Through the gaps in the boy’s torn clothing, glimpses of pale skin could be seen under the moonlight.
“I’m Trey,” he said gently. “What’s your name? Are you alone? What are you doing here in the forest?”
If Edith hadn’t been by Trey’s side the entire time, she might have suspected that the man before her had been replaced by someone else. Since when did Trey talk this much? It wasn’t like his usual style at all — and the gentle tone in his voice was something she had never heard from him before.
“Hello, my name is Tang,” the boy said softly. “I went out too late today, and on my way home, I accidentally twisted my ankle. Then it got dark… I heard vampires like to come out at night, and I was so scared. I didn’t dare make a sound until I saw you coming…”
His voice was sweet and tender, laced with a note of helpless dependence. Though his words were a lie, his emotions were genuine — after all, the handsome man standing before him was his beloved partner from another world.
“Don’t be afraid. Where do you live? I’ll take you home,” Trey said, gently tucking a loose strand of Bai Tang’s hair behind his ear. The gesture revealed his palm-sized face, making the boy look even more delicate and refined.
“Thank you~” Bai Tang smiled, his expression as radiant as a sky full of stars — and Trey’s heart skipped a few beats before he even realized it.
Author’s Note:
After all, Tang Tang’s been through plenty of worlds and acted more than a few times — this kind of scene is nothing for him~
