Chapter 328– The Domineering CEO’s Little Sweetheart – A Restless Night (05)
The boy’s voice was soft and sticky-sweet. To avoid alerting the thief, he spoke in a low, even tone without any urgency. On the other end of the line, the policewoman thought Bai Tang was joking.
Still, for safety’s sake, the policewoman confirmed again, “Where is your home located? How many intruders are there?”
Just saying those three words — ‘There’s a thief’ — had already taken nearly all of Bai Tang’s courage. The rest of the information was reported by Qiu’er and Xiao A, who imitated his voice.
After understanding the situation, the police mobilized quickly.
Bai Tang hung up and stayed in the room, gasping for breath for a long time.
He didn’t know whether it was the mansion’s good soundproofing or because the thieves hadn’t run into Xi Yuanhan and the others, but he couldn’t hear a single sound from outside.
He hesitated for a long while, his worry for Xi Yuanhan outweighing his fear of running into the intruders.
Taking the flashlight Qiu’er had given him, Bai Tang opened the door and stepped out.
He crouched low, hiding behind sofas and other furniture to avoid being seen by the thieves.
“Switching to map mode. Tang Tang, look — the red dots are the thieves, and the green ones are Xi Yuanhan, Aunt Zhang, and Liang Shaomei,” said Qiu’er.
“Right now, the three robbers are in the studies on the second and third floors. The male lead is on the second floor, Aunt Zhang is in the storage room, and Liang Shaomei is on the first floor. Everyone’s pretty spread out. The robbers are armed, so please be careful, host,” Xiao A added.
Bai Tang nodded. He decided to find Liang Shaomei first — after all, she was the closest to him.
“Ah—”
A shadow moved in the corner. Liang Shaomei, who was holding a baseball bat, almost screamed. Thankfully, she remembered not to alert the thieves’ accomplices and forcibly swallowed the sound back down.
“Tang Tang, why did you come out?” Once she saw who it was, Liang Shaomei quickly pulled him behind her.
“It’s so dangerous out here — weren’t you supposed to stay in Aunt Zhang’s room?” Xi Yuanhan had told her earlier that Bai Tang was with Aunt Zhang.
“Aunt Zhang went out. I was scared~”
The soft, timid voice carried a trace of innocence, tugging at Liang Shaomei’s heartstrings.
Poor Tang Tang didn’t understand any of this. How terrified must he have been, sitting alone in the dark?
Liang Shaomei took his hand. “Tang Tang, don’t make a sound. Follow me — I’ll get you out of here.”
She had originally planned to subdue the robbers, but now that Bai Tang was with her and the thieves were still inside the house, escaping seemed like the wiser choice.
Just as she led Bai Tang into the living room, a loud crash came from upstairs — like someone had tripped and fallen.
Both of them froze, their hearts jumping, as they looked up toward the second floor.
Suddenly, the study door burst open. Aunt Zhang was shoved out from inside, falling heavily to the ground. Her head struck the railing, and she let out a cry of pain.
“Aunt Zhang!” Liang Shaomei called out instinctively—immediately drawing the thieves’ attention.
Trying to run?
One of the robbers grabbed the railing and vaulted down from upstairs. Liang Shaomei quickly flung open the front door and pushed Bai Tang outside. “Run!”
Bang!
Before Bai Tang could react, the door slammed shut behind him.
He pounded on the door, but no one answered.
Pressing his ear to it, he could hear the sounds of a struggle inside.
“Qiu’er, what do I do?” Bai Tang asked anxiously.
Qiu’er studied the map. “Aunt Zhang is injured. Xi Yuanhan is fighting the robbers. They outnumber him and are stronger, but don’t worry—he can take them down. He just needs some time.”
“No, I have to go in! Qiu’er, help me!” Bai Tang grew even more desperate at the thought of Xi Yuanhan being in danger.
At that moment, Xiao A found a loophole in the world’s system. “Host, you can transform back into a squirrel. Your squirrel form isn’t affected by the world’s rules.”
In other words, once he became a squirrel again, he wouldn’t be bound by the world’s settings.
“Okay!”
Before the robbers could open the door to search for him, Bai Tang had already turned back into a small squirrel. The moment the door opened, he darted through the thief’s legs and slipped inside.
“Squeak squeak squeak!” — A Han!
The little squirrel scurried across the floor and raced toward the second floor.
Liang Shaomei was facing off against one of the robbers, clutching a baseball bat. She had no combat experience and had never learned self-defense—she swung purely on instinct, which left her with several bruises and cuts.
“Squeak squeak squeak!” Xiao A, help the heroine!
Liang Shaomei wasn’t a bad person. Bai Tang couldn’t just stand by and watch her die.
Xiao A obeyed, taking control of Liang Shaomei’s movements.
A left hook, a sweeping right kick— The robber, who had completely underestimated her, was knocked to the ground.
Liang Shaomei stared at her hands in astonishment. Since when was I this strong?
Before she could think it through, the robber got back up. “Looks like I underestimated you.”
Everyone has pride. The meek little rabbit had suddenly turned into a fierce tiger, and the robber’s fighting spirit flared up. He refused to lose to a woman.
In the blink of an eye, he lunged at her again—but this time, with Xiao A’s help, Liang Shaomei dodged easily and even countered with a kick of her own.
Meanwhile, the little squirrel reached the staircase just in time to see the second robber shove Aunt Zhang down from the upper floor. She tumbled and rolled all the way down the steps.
Seeing this, the squirrel summoned vines, weaving them into an elastic net beneath the stairs to catch her.
To ease the old woman’s pain, Qiu’er activated the healing system. Of course, since Aunt Zhang’s injuries were visible to everyone, Qiu’er didn’t dare heal her completely. He left a few minor wounds untouched so it wouldn’t look suspicious.
The fighting upstairs was far fiercer than downstairs.
Liang Shaomei was a girl—she didn’t require the same level of forceful countermeasures.
Xi Yuanhan was different. Having received a well-rounded education and professional training since childhood, he traded blows with the trained thug blow for blow; each punch he threw cut the air with a whistling sound.
“Squeak—squeak—squeak—” Don’t bully my A Han!
The little squirrel let out an indignant cry at the thug. Vines tied to the second-floor railing, the squirrel climbed up and pounced onto the thug’s face.
“Squeak—squeak—” How dare you bully A Han, how dare you bully A Han…
The squirrel clawed at the thug’s face, its squeaks a release of fury.
Miraculously, Xi Yuanhan understood the tiny creature’s sudden outburst.
The thug reached to grab the squirrel. Just as his hand was about to touch Bai Tang, the squirrel jumped aside, planted its paws against the wall, and leaped onto Xi Yuanhan’s shoulder.
“Squeak—squeak—” Aren’t I great?
The squirrel crowed proudly at Xi Yuanhan.
An animal’s weapons are simple: teeth and claws.
The thug, his face scratched by the squirrel, glanced up and saw the thing that had impeded him perched on Xi Yuanhan’s shoulder — and suddenly understood they were allied.
This group had broken into the Bai residence on the boss’s orders to steal information. They’d been discovered and were now stubbornly resisting, which had inflamed the robbers’ murderous intent.
He drew the knife strapped to his leg; the blade flashed as he lunged it toward Xi Yuanhan.
“Ah—”
There was a cry. The thug collapsed, the knife embedded in his belly.
Xi Yuanhan’s expression turned as dark as still water. Cradling the squirrel, he radiated a domineering aura.
The thug had truly angered him. At the moment the blade had been aimed at the squirrel, Xi had felt murderous intent toward the man.
In the end, Xi Yuanhan disarmed the robber — but it cost him one of his hands.
The little squirrel jumped down and planted a paw on the fallen thug.
“Squeak—squeak—” You little trash, still trying to bully my A Han? Dream on — I’ll stamp you into the ground.
“Come here,” the man murmured softly.
Bai Tang lifted his head and saw that Xi Yuanhan’s hand was bleeding.
Bright red blood dripped down his fingertips, each drop landing with a clear, distinct sound that echoed through the now-silent mansion.
He dashed to the bathroom, grabbed a towel, and hurried back to wipe Xi Yuanhan’s hand.
Xi Yuanhan casually wrapped the towel around the wound a few times, then used it to gently wipe the blood off the little squirrel’s fur.
“You’re Tang Tang, aren’t you?” Xi Yuanhan said gently.
In the little squirrel’s mind, only four words flashed — Oh no, I’m doomed.
He found out! When did A Han realize?
All Bai Tang wanted to do now was run. He spread his four paws and bolted.
But after several seconds of frantic scrambling, he realized—he wasn’t moving at all.
Xi Yuanhan had caught his tail from behind. “Tang Tang, don’t go.”
The squirrel struggled, accidentally brushing against Xi Yuanhan’s wounded hand.
The man hissed in pain, and Bai Tang froze, immediately scurrying back to comfort him.
“Squeak squeak—” Where does it hurt? Did I touch it? I’ll heal you.
“Tang Tang, you can’t heal Xi Yuanhan.” The moment the familiar white light appeared, Qiu’er’s voice rang out in alarm.
All his energy was already being used to repair his soul.
Qiu’er had never told Bai Tang that his soul was incomplete—most of the energy he’d gathered had gone toward patching it up.
This fatal flaw had only surfaced after Bai Tang’s skill activation. If Qiu’er hadn’t upgraded last time, even he might not have noticed it.
If his soul wasn’t repaired, Bai Tang could very well lose control one day—his damaged soul would drive him into madness, causing him to kill indiscriminately and die under the weight of his own sins.
The small healing spells before had been fine, but in this world, the energy he gathered was needed not only to mend his soul but also to heal his autism.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had to endure the suffering of being bound to a “supporting character” role.
As Bai Tang used his healing ability, a sharp pain throbbed through his head.
The little squirrel collapsed into Xi Yuanhan’s palm, body trembling violently—startling Xi Yuanhan into sheer panic.
“Tang Tang, Tang Tang, don’t scare me…” Xi Yuanhan called out, his voice trembling.
Xiao A controlled Liang Shaomei’s body and, using her voice, said, “Quick, place him against your heart.”
The heart was the place closest to life itself — through it, Xiao A could draw upon the male lead’s life force and fortune to heal Bai Tang.
Though the method was harmful to one’s karmic virtue, Xiao A no longer had time to worry about that.
Xi Yuanhan did as instructed. As soon as the little squirrel touched his chest, a faint green light began to radiate from its body. Soft specks of green shimmered around them, and the squirrel’s expression gradually relaxed.
After about fifteen minutes, the little squirrel was out of danger. His chest rose and fell steadily as he slept peacefully.
“Liang Shaomei” let out a sigh of relief—then suddenly collapsed.
The two thugs on the first floor had already been dealt with by Xiao A, and the sound of police sirens grew louder in the distance.
At that moment, the little squirrel transformed back into his human form, lying naked in Xi Yuanhan’s arms.
Xi Yuanhan gently checked the boy’s pulse. His heartbeat was steady; no fever, no signs of illness.
He exhaled softly, relief flooding his face. Before the police arrived, he carried the boy back to his room and dressed him in clean clothes.
Author’s Note :
Some readers told me they still don’t understand the protagonist’s background. Actually, in earlier worlds, I dropped a few small hints.
Here’s a little more of Tang Tang’s backstory: he wasn’t chosen by Qiu’er by coincidence—it’s far more complicated than that. And even Qiu’er isn’t simple. The truth is, Qiu’er himself still doesn’t fully understand what he really is.
