Chapter 324– The Domineering CEO’s Little Sweetheart – The Beginning of a New World (01)

Bai Tang returned to the system space. The memories of his time with Wen Changhe in the previous world still felt as vivid as if they had happened just yesterday.
The little squirrel looked lost and forlorn. Having to part ways every lifetime—this feeling was truly unbearable.
Qiu’er comforted him, “Tang Tang, don’t be sad! You still have the next life, and the one after that, and the one after that… there are so many days ahead of you two!”
Bai Tang sighed softly. “I know, but it still hurts inside.”
Either he watched his lover die, or his lover watched him die. Even knowing they would meet again, witnessing the death of the one he loved with his own eyes left a suffocating ache in his chest that he couldn’t put into words.
Xiao A said, “Host, don’t overthink it. Ordinary people only have one lifetime. Even if they reincarnate, they won’t remember people or events from their past lives. But you and the male lead are different. Although this system cannot detect the male lead’s true origin, I can sense that his background is far from simple. Whether he is friend or foe to you is still uncertain. So why not cherish the present? At the very least, you’ve gained some happy days.”
“Xiao A is right. Instead of brooding here, I’d better hurry to the next world and meet him again.”
Bai Tang chose to hear only half of what Xiao A said, completely ignoring the part about “whether he’s friend or foe.” Deep down, he refused to even consider the possibility of standing on opposite sides of the male lead.
In the previous world, after Bai Tang and Wen Changhe got married, Bai Tang resigned from his job.
Being a designer was too exhausting. Whenever inspiration struck, he would sketch some design drafts, but most of the time, he focused on enriching himself in various ways. The world was so big, and he had so much time—why not explore it more?
Wen Changhe fully supported Bai Tang’s decision, both hands and feet raised in agreement. His little squirrel no longer had to work overtime every day, and he no longer had to spend lonely nights waiting for him to come home—it was wonderful.
Although Wen Changhe supported any decision Bai Tang made, he still hoped Bai Tang wouldn’t push himself too hard. The doctor had warned them that Bai Tang’s body couldn’t handle too much strain, or it might shorten his lifespan. Wen Changhe couldn’t bear the thought of Bai Tang dying young and leaving him behind in loneliness. Yet, he didn’t want to clip Bai Tang’s wings either, locking him at home and watching him waste away in unhappiness.
Caught between these two conflicting feelings, Wen Changhe often found himself wishing he could carry a health monitor around just to constantly check Bai Tang’s physical condition.
Eventually, Bai Tang came to terms with it himself. He would go shopping with Wen’s mother, visit Wen Changhe at work from time to time, sketch designs, or suddenly take an interest in something new and sign up for a class. Every time, Wen Changhe was delighted.
As long as Bai Tang was safe and happy, that was enough for him.
He had never realized, until then, how easily contented a person he truly was.
Wen Changhe and Bai Tang spent their whole lives together without children. The heir to the Wen family conglomerate was Wen Changrou’s son. Wen Changrou’s husband was a live-in son-in-law who deeply loved her. His parents had passed away, so he was free to make his own choices in marriage and did not mind marrying into his wife’s family. The two of them shared a lifelong bond of mutual affection, and their household was a happy and harmonious one.
Pulling his thoughts back from memories of the previous world, Bai Tang took a deep breath and cracked open a pine nut.
“Qiu’er, what’s the plot of the next world?”
All the comforting words Qiu’er had prepared for Bai Tang went unused; he could only quietly take out the world storyline.
The pink cover radiated a dreamy, romantic vibe. At the center of the image stood a woman in front and a man behind her, the male lead gazing silently at the heroine’s back. Beside them, in ornate script, was the title: “The Domineering CEO’s Little Sweetheart.”
Once again, Xiao A perfectly embodied the phrase “tiny eyes filled with immense confusion.” Why were all the worlds in Qiu’er’s system data so… peculiar?
Having learned from past mistakes, Little A kept quiet this time and didn’t comment on the cover, instead leaning over with Bai Tang to read the plot summary.
The story of this world went like this:
The heroine, Liang Shaomei, was a poor but determined and optimistic young woman. To raise money for her mother’s medical treatment, she dropped out of university halfway through and resolutely set off to work.
Fortunately, she soon found her first job — and the pay wasn’t bad either. She was hired as a nanny for a wealthy family.
Although the job title was “nanny,” there wasn’t much housework to do. Her main responsibility was to spend time with the family’s autistic son.
That young man was none other than the supporting male character, Bai Tang. His mother had died giving birth to him, and his father, always busy with work, had little time to care for him. Deprived of parental love and human connection, Bai Tang gradually withdrew into himself and developed severe autism. By the time his father realized something was wrong, it was already too late.
When Bai Tang turned eighteen, his father happened upon a major business deal that required him to stay abroad for half a year. He couldn’t rest easy leaving Bai Tang home alone. Although there was an aunt who helped around the house, she was not well-educated and might not be able to handle Bai Tang’s unpredictable moods. So, he decided to find someone educated and gentle-natured to look after him.
That was how the heroine, Liang Shaomei, entered Bai Tang’s father’s life.
Although the Bai family lived in a wealthy neighborhood with top-tier security, Bai Tang’s father was still uneasy. Besides Bai Tang, there were only two women in the house, and he worried they might become targets for thieves. After carefully screening countless candidates, he finally chose a man to serve as both butler and bodyguard, someone who could protect Bai Tang and the two housemaids.
What Bai Tang’s father didn’t know was that this so-called butler and bodyguard had deliberately approached the Bai family with ulterior motives. He was none other than this world’s male lead — Xi Yuanhan.
Xi Yuanhan had lost his parents at a young age. His purpose in coming to the Bai household was to investigate the truth behind his parents’ deaths.
Through his investigation, he discovered clues suggesting that Bai Tang’s father might be involved. So, after painstakingly disguising his identity, he managed to get himself hired by Bai Tang’s father. Taking advantage of the man’s frequent business trips abroad, Xi Yuanhan planned to use his position as butler to secretly search the house for evidence related to his parents’ deaths.
The male and female leads met at the Bai residence. The heroine, Liang Shaomei, believed that since she was paid well, she should fulfill her duties wholeheartedly. She not only stayed by Bai Tang’s side to look after him but also helped the maids with housework whenever she had free time.
Because of her constant presence, Xi Yuanhan never found a good chance to sneak into Bai Father’s study, and her unintentional interference began to seriously frustrate him.
Liang Shaomei soon sensed that Xi Yuanhan didn’t like her. He often found excuses to criticize her and made her do long, physically tiring chores. After enduring this repeatedly, Liang Shaomei began to grow defiant.
She was paid by Mr. Bai, not by him — so who was he to order her around all the time?
And so, the two began to clash. Thus was born a classic pair of bickering lovers under the Bai family roof, their constant squabbles filling the house with liveliness.
Bai Tang might have severe autism, but he wasn’t unintelligent. He could clearly tell who treated him kindly and who did not.
Xi Yuanhan, seeing Bai Tang as the son of the man who might have murdered his parents, showed little concern for him. Compared to Liang Shaomei’s gentle care, his attitude was like night and day.
Naturally, Bai Tang preferred Liang Shaomei — and disliked Xi Yuanhan.
Every day, watching the two argue and bicker, Bai Tang couldn’t quite understand their relationship, but he could tell that Liang Shaomei was being bullied by Xi Yuanhan. As a result, his dislike for the man grew even stronger.
One day, while the housemaid was on the phone with Bai Tang’s father, Bai Tang — who rarely spoke to anyone — did something unprecedented: he took the initiative to speak up, clearly expressing that he didn’t like Xi Yuanhan.
Thrilled yet alarmed that his usually quiet son had finally voiced an opinion, Bai Tang’s father immediately began to worry — had that butler truly mistreated his son?
The more he thought about it, the more anxious he became.
In the end, for the sake of his child, Bai Father dismissed Xi Yuanhan.
Xi Yuanhan was forced to leave the Bai residence. During his continued investigation, he discovered that the real culprit behind his parents’ deaths was someone else entirely — and that Bai Tang’s father had actually been a witness to the incident back then. The business trip he had gone on wasn’t what it seemed; the true culprit had deliberately lured him away to destroy any evidence Bai Father might have recorded.
When Xi Yuanhan rushed back to the Bai residence, he found it engulfed in roaring flames. The housemaids and Bai Tang had perished in the fire, and only the young and strong Liang Shaomei barely managed to escape.
Once she had despised Xi Yuanhan, but after losing Bai Tang, Liang Shaomei decided to join forces with him to avenge Bai Tang’s death.
During the fire, Liang Shaomei had received a call from Bai Tang’s father just before he died. Following his final instructions, she found crucial evidence hidden in the house — evidence that revealed the truth behind Xi Yuanhan’s parents’ deaths.
From then on, the male and female leads worked together in a battle of wits and courage against the villains. In the end, they succeeded in exposing the murderer’s conspiracy and clearing Xi Yuanhan’s parents’ names.
Through their cooperation, Liang Shaomei’s view of Xi Yuanhan gradually changed. She began to fall for him, and he, in turn, was drawn to her strength and optimism. Eventually, the two of them walked hand in hand into marriage.
Xiao A, having observed all of Bai Tang’s previous mission worlds, couldn’t help but sigh. Of all the supporting male roles Bai Tang had played, almost none ever had a happy ending—he either starved to death, drowned, fell to his death, or was abused to death. Not a single good outcome so far… and this world seemed no different.
Qiu’er closed the storybook and said, “In this world, Tang Tang only appears in the beginning. In the second half, you don’t have much of a presence.”
The little squirrel drooped. He was afraid of water, afraid of fire, afraid of hunger—and even afraid of ghosts. In every world, there always seemed to be one of those ways to die. Life as a squirrel was truly despairing.
Qiu’er added, “Don’t worry, Tang Tang. With me and Xiao A here, we’ll definitely keep you safe. It’s just that… although this world’s plot looks simple, it’s actually quite tricky. The supporting male character has autism, and in this world, we can’t use healing abilities to cure it.”
Bai Tang was completely dazed. “What do you mean?”
Xiao A immediately caught on to what Qiu’er meant.
“So you’re saying the host will have to spend some time as someone with autism? It’s not that autism can’t improve, but it takes time, patience, and companionship to help him open up.”
That really did put Bai Tang in a difficult position.
Someone with autism didn’t like talking to people—did that mean he’d have to watch the male and female leads flirt and make eyes at each other right in front of him?!
The world selection had already been completed; if he gave up now, he’d have to enter a punishment world instead.
No matter what kind of world or storyline it was, he’d have to do the missions anyway. He wasn’t about to give up the chance to meet his lover again just because of a little hardship.
“It’s fine—let’s go with this world. Qiu’er, initiate transmission,” Bai Tang said with renewed spirit, smiling at Qiu’er.
“Alright, preparing for transmission. Xiao A, follow quickly!”
A familiar white light flashed—and they left the main system space.
