Chapter 164 – The Wolf King’s Naughty Little Wife – The Confrontation Between the Villain and the Male Lead (10)

The Beast God’s messenger rushed off in a hurry. Concerned something might have happened, the Priest Mana followed Bai Chuansu to the back mountain.

Seeing the Priest Mana’s anxious expression, the other beastmen also hurried along.

When they arrived, they saw Kyle holding an egg while Bai Tang was cradling a beastman infant.

The little infant, smelling a familiar scent, reached out toward Bai Chuansu for a hug.

Even while still inside the egg, beastman babies have awareness. They can sense the outside world, and the most familiar presence is Bai Chuansu, who carefully cares for them.

Besides, the faint spiritual aura on the little cat fox is the babies’ favorite. When held by Bai Chuansu, they feel completely relaxed and comfortable.

Though still a tiny infant, the beastman already had considerable strength, flailing about so much that Bai Tang almost couldn’t hold him.

Bai Chuansu took over the baby, who sucked eagerly on his neck and smiled happily. That was the familiar scent.

“Where did this infant come from? It just hatched. Quickly go get some fruit milk,” the Priest Mana said while looking at the baby, then turned to the beastmen who had followed.

In the beastman world, regardless of the tribe, infants are precious—gifts from the Beast God. Even if one finds an infant from another tribe in the wild, the finder will take it home and care for it carefully.

“Hissss—”

The beastmen gathered around the back mountain, covering up the sounds of the beastman eggs still hatching inside the tree hollow.

The last crack was the loudest, as a little snake cub dragged a piece of patterned eggshell, poking its head out of the hollow.

S-So tall… where are my older brothers? I’m scared~

“Another little snake cub has hatched,” the Priest Mana looked up and saw the little snake wobbling precariously inside the hollow. He quickly climbed up to pick it up.

“Hissss—”

After a while, the little snake in the Priest Mana’s arms also transformed into human form, struggling to be held by Bai Chuansu.

Bai Chuansu held one baby in each arm, and both little babies nestled obediently in his embrace, very well-behaved.

Bai Tang carefully took the cracked beastman egg from Kyle’s hand and showed it to the Priest Mana.

“Hissss—” The eggshell cracked open a small gap.

The Priest Mana’s face changed drastically.

Judging by the size and pattern of the egg, it was most likely a little female. Female beastmen don’t have the same vitality as males and are the most fragile at birth. Was it about to hatch prematurely?

“Quick, return to the tribe and find a clean, comfortable place,” he ordered. The wind on the back mountain was strong, and a newborn female wouldn’t be able to endure it.

Hearing this, the group immediately changed location. The best place was the Priest Mana’s home — he lived alone, had plenty of space, and many herbs ready for any emergency.

The two beastman babies seemed to sense the tense atmosphere and obediently let Bai Chuansu feed them fruit milk.

Following the Priest Mana’s instructions, the half-beastmen went out to prepare fruit milk, boil water, and bring clean beast skins and other supplies. Everyone waited quietly for the little female to hatch.

The little female didn’t keep them waiting long. “Hiss, hiss” — several cracking sounds, and the eggshell split wide open. First appeared a chubby little leg, then a clenched tiny fist, waving weakly.

“It’s opening, it’s opening! Bring the beast skin!”

Bai Tang quickly wrung out the beast skin soaked in hot water, fluffed it a few times, and handed the warm skin to the Priest Mana.

The Priest Mana methodically wiped the little female, wrapped her in the clean beast skin, and fed her fruit milk.

Except for the somewhat loud crying, the little female was perfectly normal.

The half-beastmen erupted in the first cheer, and the sound quickly spread to the other beastmen waiting outside.

It had been a long time since a female was born in the tribe. Although this little female was brought over by the snake tribe half-beastmen, hatching in the Winged Wolf tribe was still a good omen.

Bai Chuansu placed the beastman babies together; the three little ones drank fruit milk while holding each other, and eventually fell asleep.

The Priest Mana smiled with relief. It was good that the babies were fine, but the little female needed careful care. Hatching prematurely had weakened her, and her cries were very weak.

After the system finished checking the bodies of the three sleeping babies, its results matched those of the Priest Mana.

The original story’s biggest turning point was when the snake tribe babies were killed by Ran Xiayue, but now it had completely deviated from the original plot. The Winged Wolf tribe and the Snake tribe would likely never fight.

Bai Chuansu stared thoughtfully at the peacefully sleeping babies.

Since the Demon Lord had driven him out, he guessed that if he appeared before the Demon Lord again, it would only upset him.

He wondered if the Winged Wolf tribe could help send the three little babies back. If so, he wouldn’t return to upset the Demon Lord.

Bai Tang stepped forward, imitating Kyle’s comforting manner, and patted Bai Chuansu’s head. “Chuansu, what’s wrong? Are you upset?”

“Tang Tang, can you help arrange for someone to send the little babies back to the tribe?” Bai Chuansu earnestly grabbed Bai Tang’s hand.

“Of course, no problem,” Bai Tang agreed immediately. “Once the babies are feeling better, I’ll have Kyle send you all back.”

The fox half-beastman shook his head, his ears drooping with disappointment. “Just send the babies back. I’m not going back.” The Demon Lord doesn’t want to see me.

“Did he argue with you?” Bai Tang was fairly experienced; it was probably because the little fox kitten had quarreled with his ‘his mate’. He had argued with his own mate before, but they always made up afterward.

“It’s nothing! Chuansu is so good, he’ll definitely come looking for you. If he doesn’t, I’ll have Kyle teach him a lesson,” Bai Tang said, pumping his fist as if Vos himself was right in front of him.

Bai Chuansu forced a smile. If only they had argued — the Demon Lord hadn’t even bothered to argue with him.

Kyle felt a bit jealous. Why was his own treasure always thinking about other beastmen?

“Tang Tang, beastmen never fear battle, but now it’s time for you to sleep.”

Bai Tang asked the system for the time — it was already eleven at night. Indeed, it was time to sleep.

The Priest Mana was an experienced “midwife1,” and the three babies would get the best care staying with him.

Bai Tang took the lonely Bai Chuansu’s hand. “Let’s go to sleep.” Then he turned to Kyle: “Tonight you should sleep at your own place.”

Kyle: “…”

The clan leader patted Kyle’s shoulder earnestly: “Kyle, you two aren’t paired up yet. It’s better for you to sleep apart.”

Without the blessing of the Beast God, beastmen who sneak around tasting forbidden fruit get punished. Kyle was one of the best among the young generation in the Winged Wolf tribe — the tribe’s future depended on them.

Bai Tang and Bai Chuansu walked out hand in hand. Brown bumped Kyle’s shoulder. “Kyle, that half-beastman is really cute. Can you introduce us?”

The little fox kitten’s playful, charming expression made many beastmen’s hearts flutter — Brown, a single beastman, was no exception, especially since the fox tribe half-beastman was also an excellent grilled meat chef.

“He’s Bai Chuansu, you know him now,” Kyle dropped that well-known fact and strode off.

Brown chased after him: “That’s not what I meant…”

Ran Xiayue, who had been knocked unconscious, was also carried home by the half-beastmen. But this time she didn’t have the good luck she had before — word quickly spread throughout the tribe about her attempt to harm the babies, and many beastmen who admired her gave up on pursuing her.

In the forest, a thick black shadow slipped into Makku Eagle’s cave. After a sharp eagle call, a tall man emerged from the entrance.

He faced the wind, holding a few pale yellow fox hairs between his fingers. His proud and cold handsome face rarely showed a trace of gentle tenderness as he gazed at the distant flickering lights.

“The Winged Wolf tribe, huh…”

At dawn, birds chirped on the branches.

Two fluffy creatures, one big and one small, curled up and slept on a beast skin.

The system took out a camera and kept clicking away at the little squirrel and the little fox kitten.

So cute~ The system’s eyes sparkled with hearts. Two fluffy balls of fur—could life be any happier?

At that moment, the bigger one, the fox, opened a narrow slit of an eye and vaguely saw a white round ball floating in the air, its flash blinking repeatedly at him.

The little fox kitten squinted its eyes, sleepiness creeping in. The little squirrel rolled over on top of the kitten, but the kitten pinned it down with one paw.

The little squirrel suddenly found its belly trapped and clawed twice in the air, then grabbed hold of the kitten’s huge fluffy tail and fell asleep.

Adorable, so adorable~ The system wiped the machine oil dripping from its nose, flew over to the two cuties and twisted around them. The feeling was amazing—it was so happy~ awsl…

In the morning, the two little cuties woke up and waited left and right, but no sign of Kyle coming to build the house on the back mountain. They had already found clay that could replace bricks yesterday and were just waiting for Kyle to start working.

Bai Tang looked on anxiously but saw no sign of him.

“Qiu’er, can you help me see where Kyle is?” Bai Tang asked worriedly.

“Got it, leave it to me.” The system put away the camera and promptly opened the map.

What it saw shocked it completely.

Wasn’t there supposed to be a reason why the hero and villain wouldn’t fight? Why were they still fighting?

“Oh no, Kyle and Vos started fighting on the way to the back mountain.” Voss was the unlucky snake tribe leader in the original story.

“Vos?!” The little fox kitten was very sensitive to the name of his Demon Lord. He quickly asked, “Where? Where?”

Is the Demon Lord coming for him or for the little beastlings?

When they arrived, Kyle and Vos were evenly matched, the giant snake and the winged wolf—neither could gain the upper hand.

“Kyle…” Bai Tang shouted. In the original story, Kyle would be hit in the eye by Vos’s venom and almost blinded.

Sure enough, just as Bai Tang’s voice fell, the giant snake opened its huge mouth, bared its fangs, and bit down on the winged wolf’s wing.

“Kyle…”

Bai Tang rushed forward, and the vines beside him rapidly grew, binding the giant snake. The winged wolf took advantage of the snake’s slowed movement to deliver a heavy blow.

“No, Demon Lord…”

Bai Chuansu’s eyes reddened as he transformed back into the little fox kitten, shielding the giant snake from the winged wolf’s attack.

The giant snake twisted in the air, curling his body around the falling little fox kitten, and let out a long howl to the sky.

“Ah Su, Ah Su…” The giant snake turned back into human form, holding the little fox kitten who had been pierced through the shoulder, his hands covered in blood.

“Awooo~ Demon Lord~”

The little fox kitten rubbed against Vos’s palm—thankfully, the Demon Lord was okay.

“Ah Su, don’t die. I’ll take you to the priest…” The man anxiously cradled the little fox kitten, hurriedly trying to find the priest.

“Let me do it.” Bai Tang stopped Vos and took the little fox kitten away.

Vos’s eyes reddened, his pupils narrowing as he prepared to fight, but Kyle stopped him.

Bai Chuansu’s condition was serious. Bai Tang, regardless of being discovered, emitted a green glow from his hands and pressed them to the little fox kitten’s wound.

Author’s Note:

As I was writing, it turned into the little fox kitten’s scene—I seem to have wandered onto the wrong stage.

Actually, this is a side story. The main focus is still our Tang Tang! The next chapter will be Tang Tang and Kyle’s main story. Let the Demon Lord slowly chase after his wife (chapter omitted here).

Note :

  1. “midwife” means they are skilled at helping the animal or beast babies be born safely and cared for right after birth. ↩︎
