Quick Transmigration: Breaking Up That Official CP – Chapter 11

Chapter 11 – Campus Arc: A Glamorous Romance – The Cinderella Sweetheart’s Endless Love (11)

Perhaps the ice pack was working—his aching cheek no longer hurt. Though cool and refreshing, Bai Tang didn’t like the sensation. He preferred the warmth of the sun over the cold.

He wanted to put the ice pack down, but Hudson insisted on keeping it on until they reached the hospital.

Once they got out of the car, Tian Lingxue immediately went to register at the front desk, only to be told that appointments had to be made a week in advance.

“I’ll take the emergency option,” Tian Lingxue said.

“I’m sorry, but even the emergency department requires an appointment,” the nurse replied with a professional smile.

Tian Lingxue was on the verge of exploding.

What kind of nonsense was this? Even emergencies needed appointments? If someone were seriously ill, they’d be dead in a week.

“I’d like to see Dr. John. Tell him Hudson Lysett is here.” Hudson, half-holding Bai Tang, stepped up to the nurse’s station.

“Oh! Of course, please wait a moment.” The nurse, initially indifferent, suddenly became much more polite after hearing the name.

She quickly dialed an internal line. No one knew what was said on the other end, but as soon as she hung up, her previously aloof attitude disappeared entirely.

With a respectful tone, she said, “Dr. John is upstairs. Please follow me.”

Tian Lingxue pursed her lips. She glanced at the composed Hudson, then at Bai Tang, who had his head lowered, reluctantly trapped in Hudson’s embrace.

She had to investigate the Lysett family’s background.

The nurse led them to the 21st floor, where the bright, spacious environment was completely different from the other consultation floors. This entire level belonged to Dr. John.

Dr. John was an internationally renowned surgeon, nearly impossible for ordinary people to book an appointment with. Tian Lingxue wasn’t aware of this, but in a country where medical treatment was difficult to access, being able to see a doctor with an entire private floor without an appointment was definitely not normal.

Looking at the way Hudson treated Bai Tang, Tian Lingxue couldn’t help but wonder—would Tang Tang really be able to escape unscathed?

Tian Lingxue couldn’t help but feel worried.

Dr. John was a middle-aged man with a thick beard. The moment he saw Hudson, he spread his arms wide and enthusiastically hugged Tian Lingxue. When it was Hudson’s turn, however, Hudson simply removed the ice pack and asked, “Dr. John, what degree of burn is this?”

Bai Tang’s fair face had swollen and reddened where it was burned, with a faint tinge of black and purple beginning to appear.

Dr. John’s expression turned serious. “Follow me.”

“Open your mouth.”

“Ah—”

At the hospital, Bai Tang still resisted Hudson, but with the female lead Tian Lingxue coaxing him by his side, he obediently cooperated.

The blisters inside his mouth had mostly been bitten open, leaving behind uneven sores. Dr. John frowned as he examined them.

“It’s a second-degree burn. The blisters have burst, which increases the risk of infection. However, it’s not too serious—just be mindful of hygiene…”

Dr. John quickly scribbled down a list of medications on a prescription pad. “Keep his diet light and bland.”

“Got it. Thank you, doctor.” Tian Lingxue took the prescription. The handwriting was barely legible, filled with elegant yet unreadable strokes.

“Dr. John, you have a 9 PM appointment,” a nurse’s voice chimed in through the intercom.

Dr. John shrugged. “Just got back, and there’s already a pile of work. I’ll visit another time.”

By the time they left the hospital, the sky had turned completely dark.

The taxi pulled away from the hospital, and the silence inside the car contrasted sharply with the neon-lit nightlife flashing past outside.

Bai Tang’s throat had suffered a mild burn as well, so it was best for him to speak as little as possible in the coming days.

There was nothing left to say between Tian Lingxue and Hudson.

The three of them remained silent all the way back to school. At the fork in the campus path, just before they parted ways to their dormitories, Tian Lingxue finally spoke up.

“Hudson Lysett.”

Hudson paused mid-step and turned to look at her.

“I’ll have to trouble you to take care of Tang Tang.”

Tian Lingxue hadn’t wanted to ask Hudson for help, but Bai Tang’s absentminded personality, combined with the fact that she didn’t know any other reliable male classmates, left her with no choice.

Hudson nodded. “I will.”

Tian Lingxue felt her face heat up. This feeling of being slapped in the face… it was awful.

Just this evening, she had declared her intent to distance herself from Hudson and his group, yet in the end, she still had to rely on him to take Bai Tang to the doctor.

She felt useless.

If she couldn’t even take care of something this simple, how could she ever hope to protect Tang Tang?
