Chapter 104 – King of Entertainment: Loving You Across the World – Tang Tang’s Fantastic Adventure (Part 4) (11)

Inside the livestream room, the moment the fans—especially the mom and older sister types—saw Bai Tang run off, their hearts clenched in worry. The comments section exploded with frantic typing:

[“Hurry up and chase after TangTang! That’s a primitive jungle out there…”]

[“Where’s the official crew? Why haven’t they switched the camera to Tang Tang? What happened to the promised drones?”]

[“Didn’t they say they’d ensure the guests’ safety? Someone from the crew needs to go in and bring Tang Tang out!”]

Worried comments about Bai Tang flooded the screen, prompting the show’s official production team to step in with an explanation:

“Each guest has an emergency button on them. Only if the guest presses it can we dispatch a helicopter for rescue.”

Large red text scrolled across the top of the comment section, and although the chat paused briefly, it quickly resumed its frenzy:

[“We demand to see Tang Tang’s footage!”]

[“Yes! Switch the camera!”]

[“Switch the feed…”]

The production team hadn’t anticipated that Bai Tang would be this popular. The group leader in charge of filming was sweating profusely. He was anxious too.

The plan had been for each guest to be followed by their own drone, allowing the crew to keep track of everyone if they split up. When Bai Tang ran off, his assigned drone did follow—but for some reason, the feed suddenly cut to black and wouldn’t come back. And since Bai Tang hadn’t pressed the emergency button, protocol dictated that the rescue team couldn’t be dispatched unless there was clear danger or a call for help.

“Let’s wait a little longer,” said the station director, standing behind the team leader, eyes locked on the other guests who had started searching for Bai Tang on their own.

Bai Tang had thin arms and legs, it was getting dark, and he was unfamiliar with the terrain. In such an insecure environment, most people wouldn’t run very far.

Hopefully… the team leader prayed silently.

Fueled by a surge of emotion, Bai Tang jogged his way into the jungle. Due to his emotional outburst, the supernatural energy emanating from his body disrupted the surrounding magnetic field. As a result, the drone that had been filming him was affected and completely shut down.

He ran aimlessly, and by the time he stopped, he had no idea where he was.

Bai Tang walked slowly through the dense forest. The bright moonlight filtered through the sparse leaves above, allowing him to at least see enough to avoid walking blind.

“Where am I~”

Although there was moonlight, there were still places it couldn’t reach.

Deep within the jungle, it was pitch black and eerily silent. It was as if the area around him had been sectioned off—Bai Tang couldn’t hear a single sound from any animal.

A cool breeze brushed across his skin, raising goosebumps. He rubbed his arms, as fear of the darkness slowly crept into his heart.

“Qiu’er… Ah Nian…” His voice, trembling and on the verge of tears, barely carried in the twilight.

No one answered him. No one was with him.

Ah Nian didn’t want him anymore. Qiu’er didn’t want him either.

None of them wanted him—no one wanted him anymore…

“Tang Tang! Tang Tang—!”Garry and Zhou Zhiwen had also come out to help search.

There were still two girls back at camp. Since it was now dark and the jungle was dangerous, Fan Hechang and Li Shu stayed behind to protect them. Just in case Bai Tang returned on his own, someone needed to be there to keep him safe.

From behind a moss-covered rock came the faint, broken sound of sobbing. The young man was crouched with his knees pulled to his chest, his voice hoarse from crying. In the distance, unknown beasts occasionally let out howls, causing him to flinch in fear.

The spot where Bai Tang had ended up was damp, and the moss had soaked through the back of his clothes. His face was flushed with an unnatural redness, his limbs felt weak, and his consciousness was beginning to blur.

“Ah Nian, Qiu’er… wuwuwu~ where are you? Tang Tang is scared~”

“Wuwuwu~ it’s so dark… wuwu~”

After searching all night, the three who had gone looking returned to camp with nothing but one of Bai Tang’s shoes.

“Did you find him?” Li Shu asked. But seeing the empty space behind the three of them, he already knew the answer to his question.

The three had not rested at all and were visibly exhausted. Fan Hechang handed food and water to Garry and Zhou Zhiwen, but when he offered them to Min Gunian, the latter didn’t take them. Instead, he silently began to pack up his tent and gather his belongings.

At that moment, his condition was truly alarming. His eyes were bloodshot, stubble had grown around his chapped lips, and he was frighteningly silent.

Among them, Garry was the most familiar with Min Gunian, so he was the first to speak up and try to comfort him.

“Gunian, take a break first. We’ll look again later. Who knows, maybe Bai Tang will come back on his own soon.”

Min Gunian, eyes wild, didn’t hesitate as he slung his pack over his shoulders.

“No. I can’t stop. Tang Tang is afraid of the dark. He cried all night. I have to find him—fast.”

“Gunian.” Garry grabbed his arm. “You need rest. Calm down. Bai Tang will be okay.”

“I can’t calm down!” Min Gunian shook him off. “I heard him! He was crying—he was calling for me! He’s scared!”

Last night, he had learned the truth from Zhou Zhiwen: it had all been a misunderstanding.

He had wronged Tang Tang, hurt him—and if it weren’t for that, Tang Tang never would have run off.

Suddenly, Min Gunian snapped. His eyes bulged slightly, like a wild animal that had lost all reason. It took Garry, Zhou Zhiwen, and Fan Hechang working together to restrain him.

He was pinned to the ground by the three of them when Garry punched him hard.

“You’ve gone crazy! If you don’t calm down, what about Bai Tang?!”

As Garry’s words fell, the wild fury in Min Gunian disappeared completely, replaced by helplessness.

He pleaded desperately, “Garry, let me go find him. I heard him—I really heard him. Tang Tang was crying. He was scared. He was calling for me. It’s all my fault… my fault…”

Min Gunian pounded the ground, and soon, bright red blood began to seep from the knuckles of his fingers.

Many viewers in the livestream couldn’t help but tear up.

The image they had of Min Gunian was that of a god-like figure—lofty and untouchable. Yet now, he was crying like a child over a missing teammate.

If anyone still claimed Min Gunian had no special feelings for Bai Tang, they simply wouldn’t believe it.

But right now, the most urgent matter was to find Bai Tang. Unfortunately, the official team still refused to send out a search party.

The mom-fans and sister-fans were outraged. They began pressuring the production team: A person has gone missing—his life uncertain—and you’re clinging to rules instead of saving him?!

The production team was anxious too, but the drone assigned to Bai Tang had completely shut down and couldn’t be recovered.

“Director, we should dispatch a rescue team,” said the team leader, eyes red from staying up all night with Min Gunian and the others.

The station director’s expression was unreadable as he stared at the large screen showing the jungle.

“It hasn’t been 24 hours. He’s not officially classified as a missing person yet.”

In other words—Bai Tang hadn’t been gone long enough to qualify for a rescue mission.

The men in the group couldn’t bear to see Min Gunian like that. Their hearts softened, and they let him go.

Once freed, Min Gunian regained his composure. He offered a simple, “Take care,” before heading determinedly in the direction Bai Tang had disappeared the night before.

Garry watched him leave, letting out a long sigh.

The jungle weather was unpredictable—just moments ago the skies had been clear, and now they were suddenly overcast and stormy.

Bai Tang was jolted awake by the pounding rain.

He stared blankly at the gray sky. His legs were completely numb from staying in the same position too long.

“Ah Nian doesn’t want me anymore… he doesn’t want me…”

The heavy raindrops hit his body with painful force—but no pain could match the ache in his heart.

“Tang Tang!!!”

The system had just finished binge-watching several melodramatic love triangle films—“You love me, I love him, he likes her”—and had finally emerged from its little black room, satisfied. But the moment it came out, it saw its host lying there, close to death, completely devoid of the will to live.

“Qiu’er… I’m sorry… I’m sorry…” Bai Tang mumbled over and over, endlessly repeating his apologies.

What the hell happened? Where’s the male lead?!

The system immediately ran a full-body scan on Bai Tang: hunger, high fever!

It quickly reviewed past events using its rewind function and discovered the whole situation had started because Bai Tang had argued with the male lead—and the argument had been caused by itself.

Now it felt horribly guilty. It hadn’t even been mad, really. It had only gone into the black room thinking the male lead would take good care of Tang Tang. Who would’ve thought the guy would be so useless? Useless male lead! Give me back my healthy host!

The system quickly rummaged through its storage space and pulled out fast-acting medicine. Just as it was preparing to transfer Bai Tang to a safe location using its energy—

From a distance, Min Gunian’s voice echoed through the forest.

“Tang Tang! Tang Tang, are you there…?”

“Tang Tang…”

The man’s voice was hoarse and growing closer.

Is that Ah Nian? Ah Nian came to find me… he didn’t abandon me!

In his fevered haze, Bai Tang suddenly perked up a little. His red, swollen eyes blinked open. He tried to stand, supporting himself on a nearby rock—but the rain-soaked moss made it slick and sticky, and he slipped and fell again on the spot.

That fall was what allowed Min Gunian—who had nearly passed by—to finally spot him. He came around the large boulder and saw Bai Tang, disheveled and barely conscious.

“Tang Tang!”

They say men don’t cry easily—only when the pain is too much to bear. Now that the one he thought he’d lost was back in his arms, Min Gunian couldn’t hold back his tears.

“Ah Nian… don’t be mad, okay… I was wrong…” Bai Tang’s fevered little face was burning red, and his voice was barely louder than a whisper.

“It’s my fault… it was me… forgive me, Tang Tang. Let’s go home.” Min Gunian pressed the emergency help button—once, twice—nothing happened.

“Sh*t!” he cursed, slamming the useless device to the ground. Then, he scooped the unconscious Bai Tang into his arms and left the area.

In a mountain cave, the fire crackled loudly. Bai Tang was burning up with a fever, shivering violently and crying out that he was cold.

Min Gunian took off his clothes and held Bai Tang close, using his body heat to try to keep him warm.

He found the emergency button on Bai Tang and tried pressing it again—still no response. His heart raced with worry, but there was nothing else he could do.

“Tang Tang, please be okay… please…”

Min Gunian silently prayed: God, take some of my years in exchange for Tang Tang’s safety.

Suddenly, a flash of white light filled the cave.

Min Gunian stared in shock as the young man in his arms shrank in size—transforming into a palm-sized squirrel.

A storm of disbelief surged in his chest. He couldn’t believe his eyes—but it was real. Bai Tang had become a squirrel.

Min Gunian held the tiny creature up and looked at it. The little squirrel had curled into a ball, its belly rising and falling with steady breaths. Specks of green light flickered around its body. It was sleeping soundly—more peacefully than it ever had in human form.

Could it be… was his youth a reincarnated spirit or creature?

It didn’t matter—human or spirit, he was still his precious one.

Min Gunian reached out a finger and gently poked the little squirrel’s belly—only to have it suddenly hugged by two tiny paws. The squirrel even sniffed at the tip of his finger.

His little squirrel seemed lively and full of energy, which finally eased the tension in Min Gunian’s chest. All he could do now was wait for Bai Tang to wake up.

Suddenly, he remembered the two emergency buttons he had pressed earlier. Though they hadn’t worked at the time, what if they started working later? What if the rescue team showed up and saw Bai Tang in his squirrel form? Wouldn’t they take him away to be studied in some lab?

Thinking of this, Min Gunian picked up the last remaining emergency button and buried it a short distance from the cave.

As long as the button wasn’t nearby, the rescue team wouldn’t be able to track them down. Anything that could pose a threat to Tang Tang had to be eliminated before it even started.
