Chapter 8 – The aloof boss bends down for “love”!
Ruan Xia always has a feeling that if she exercised and ate less the day before, she would look better the day after.
Yesterday she put her legs up on the wall for a while, and today she thinks her calves look even better: slim, fair, not too skinny, just perfect.
Today, she wears a short grey shirt and a dark grey skirt, matched with a pair of high heels, which show off her long legs.
She looks so good that she can’t possibly take a day off.
Ruan Xia is feeling great, and even Aunt Sun agrees that she looks thinner. But Aunt Sun feels like she hasn’t taken good care of her, she thinks Ruan Xia really didn’t need to lose weight, and that this figure is just right for her.
Today is different from yesterday. When Ruan Xia arrived at the office, Fu Cheng’an was already there. However, Ruan Xia didn’t regret not coming earlier to meet Fu Cheng’an.
She had already woken up early for work, there was no need to wake up even earlier as a strategy on how to make Fu Cheng’an marry her. There were countless ways to do it, and she didn’t need to create unnecessary trouble for herself.
Ruan Xia knew she was very self-centered, but she had truly learned to love herself. It was for the better, otherwise, she wouldn’t know how to handle those days where she was pushed around. Looking back, she couldn’t even remember who paid for child support, she only cared about when it would be deposited.
For her parents, it’s already pushing her through her limits to take care of them.
Because she thought of them, Ruan Xia began to ponder, and she had crossed over. What would happen to her in the real world? The system didn’t mention this to Ruan Xia, so she thought she would ask the system when it woke up.
Yesterday, when Ruan Xia had some free time, she was idling around on her own. Now things were different.
Fu Cheng’an was in his office.
Bored, Ruan Xia began to message Fu Cheng’an, and the two of them exchanged questions and answers.
[Ruan Xia: Hubby, my legs hurt.]
[Fu Cheng’an : I’ll have Assistant Chen go buy medicine for you.]

[Ruan Xia : Hubby, I can’t find my pearl hairpin. It seems like I left it in your office yesterday. Can you help me look for it?]
Assistant Chen entered the office and when he came out, he walked over to Ruan Xia and said, “Mr. Fu wants you to come in for a bit.”
Men who were working were especially charming, and this kind of charm appeared in Fu Cheng’an. One glance from him could make a person’s heart skip a beat.
Ruan Xia drooped her head. “But hubby, I miss you so much. Before, when you went to work, I was always in your office. We also had lunch together.”
Fu Cheng’an pointed to the hairpin on his desk. “Is it this one?”
It was the pearl hairpin that Ruan Xia had left there yesterday. Ruan Xia took her own hairpin and placed it on Fu Cheng’an’s desk. “I brought a different hairpin today. Let’s leave this one here for now.” As she was about to place it on the desk, she accidentally dropped the hairpin on the ground.
Ruan Xia clutched her short skirt and looked like she had done something wrong. She pointed to the pearl hairpin on the ground and said, “It ends up like this because I’m too stupid. I can’t even bend over to pick it up with this short skirt on.”
Her voice was soft and trembled slightly.
Fu Cheng’an bent down slowly, picked up the hairpin and handed it to her. As he was about to stand up, he saw a band-aid on her leg. He quickly lowered his eyes and stood up.
“Did someone tell you that you have to wear such a short skirt as a secretary? If you feel uncomfortable moving around in it, why wear it?” Fu Cheng’an asked.

If she didn’t know what was going on, Ruan Xia would have thought she had won his hearts, but it wasn’t love that made the big boss bend over; it was just to keep her from interrupting his work.
Ruan Xia tugged at Fu Cheng’an’s suit jacket and said, “Next time, I’ll wear a more convenient skirt.” Then she tugged again and added, “Hubby, can I come in quietly and have lunch with you at noon? When everyone else is working, I’ll sneak out. Is that okay?”
Listening to Ruan Xia’s request, for a moment, Fu Cheng’an even thought he was having a secret office romance with her.
Ruan Xia didn’t feel embarrassed at all when she was rejected. She never thought Fu Cheng’an would have lunch with her, and she didn’t want to eat with him either.
The Fu Corporation had its own cafeteria with highly skilled chefs, and the daily dishes were so varied that one wouldn’t know what to choose.
Ruan Xia really liked it.
Because Assistant Chen asked her to take good care of Ruan Xia, Feng Jun didn’t leave Ruan Xia behind at lunch, and continued to take her to the cafeteria.
However, Aunt Sun’s son, Chu Feng, called Ruan Xia, “Mrs. Fu, are you at the Fu Corporation? My mom stewed soup today, and since I have some things to do at the Fu Corporation this afternoon, she asked me to come earlier and bring you some. She also cooked some food for you, and asked me to deliver it to you.”
Ruan Xia replied, “I see. Where are you now?”
Chu Feng : “I’m already downstairs at the Fu Corporation.”
When Ruan Xia arrived outside the company, Chu Feng was already waiting for her. He was carrying a bag filled with food containers and a thermos filled with soup as he greeted Ruan Xia.
After meeting, Ruan Xia and Chu Feng talked about his company for a while before she picked up her things and prepared to leave.
Chu Feng : “My mom says you’re too picky and don’t eat a lot of things, but you need to maintain a balanced diet, so there may be some ingredients in there that you don’t like. My mom has a nutritionist qualification. Also, she said you can just take the food container home and don’t need to wash it.”
The topic reminded Chu Feng of the time when he was heartbroken.
Chu Feng : “Some time ago, I lost weight after a breakup. My mom made me nutritious meals every day. It’s the same thing. I have to bring the lunch box back so she knows if I ate or not. Then she would say how hard it is to cook and how I can’t waste food. So I have to eat everything. If I don’t eat and bring it back, she will nag me a lot.”
Ruan Xia : “……”
So what kind of dishes are in here that she doesn’t like? Is it the green peppers she dislikes, or the onions, or the broccoli?
After placing the insulated container on her desk, Ruan Xia went to knock on Fu Cheng’an’s office door.
Upon hearing his invitation to come in, she pushed the door open and walked in on her high heels, carrying the food.
Ruan Xia said, “This is the meal that Aunt Sun told Chu Feng to bring over. It’s nutritionally balanced, so you can have it. I’ll go eat at the cafeteria.”
Feng Jun mentioned that the cafeteria has fried chicken today, so Ruan Xia will go eat there. She’s picky and can’t eat this nutritious meal, so let Fu Cheng’an have it.
Fu Cheng’an : “Just stay and let’s eat together.”
What a kind-hearted male lead, he easily gave in!
After looking around in Fu Cheng’an’s office, Ruan Xia finally decided to put the things on the coffee table next to the sofa. She opened the bags and took out the lunch boxes one by one. As expected, there were things inside that Ruan Xia didn’t like to eat.
Aunt Sun was skillful and made the food very creatively and beautifully, even creating cartoon characters, but it didn’t change the fact that Ruan Xia didn’t like to eat them.
She pushed all the things she didn’t like in front of Fu Cheng’an.
Aunt Sun used Lock&Lock containers to pack the food, which required some effort to open. Since Ruan Xia had just had her nails done, she obviously couldn’t do this kind of thing, so it fell to Fu Cheng’an.
Ruan Xia said, “Aunt Sun said that you are usually busy with work and need to have a balanced diet. Don’t be picky and eat more vegetables, especially this spinach. You must eat some.”
Ruan Xia ate slowly, while Fu Cheng’an ate quickly, but when he ate, he didn’t look ungraceful or anything like that. His fingers holding the chopsticks were even attractive to Ruan Xia. She couldn’t help but take a few more glances at him, finding it very appetizing to watch him eat.
As they ate together, watching his attractive appearance, a thought suddenly occurred to Ruan Xia. She boldly thought to herself, This man is my future husband. Isn’t watching him eat is more appetizing than watching TV shows or variety shows?
When there was still a lot of spinach left on the table, Ruan Xia realized that she might have figured out something. It turned out that Fu Cheng’an, who could eat green peppers and onions without wrinkling his brow, actually didn’t like spinach!
The two of them ate in silence and didn’t talk during the meal. It wasn’t that Ruan Xia didn’t want to talk, but she was afraid that Fu Cheng’an wouldn’t like to talk while eating, so she remained very quiet.
They had a pleasant and fruitful day, and Ruan Xia planned to leave work on time
After her colleagues had all left, Ruan Xia hesitated to talk to Fu Cheng’an. Of course, she didn’t expect him to drive her home today. She planned to drive herself.
Assistant Chen: “Miss Ruan, Mr. Fu asked me to take you home.”
Ruan Xia remembered that yesterday when Fu Cheng’an drove her home, she had said that she was a road idiot and could get lost.
Is this because of that?
Assistant Chen handed over the files he was holding to Ruan Xia and said, “Mr. Fu asked me to send you back and have you go through these files. Sort them out and submit them to him by tomorrow. If there’s anything you don’t understand, we can discuss it.” He took out his phone and said, “Miss Ruan, do you mind adding me on WeChat?”
Ruan Xia : ” ??? “
Assistant Chen : “Mr. Fu also said that if you’re too busy, forget it.”
Ha, what a jerk!
If he wants to eat spinach, then let him eat spinach. She’ll make sure to serve him spinach for lunch tomorrow!
