Chapter 350 – Your family’s plum blossom is lost again (27)
The girl’s hair was slightly disheveled, and she wore a thin nightgown. The warm glow from the refrigerator light cast a soft hue on her fair face, and the corners of her lips carried a faintly sweet smile.
A scene that felt strangely familiar.
Mu Ci couldn’t help but curl his lips into a subtle smile.
Silently, he walked up behind her and reached into the refrigerator—before she could close the door—grabbing a bottle of cold water.
The movement startled Yan Luo, who had just begun opening a carton of milk. She froze for a moment, then turned around in alarm.
“Xiao Gege?!”
She nearly dropped the milk carton, but Mu Ci caught it just in time. Then, he watched as the little girl turned around, puffing out her cheeks indignantly, poking his chest with her finger, and glaring at him. Though she complained, her voice was still soft.
“Why do you keep scaring me?!”
Mu Ci didn’t reply. Instead, he handed the milk carton back to her, casually closed the refrigerator door, and twisted open the water bottle, taking a few gulps. Raising a brow, he looked at her innocently, though his smile carried a hint of mischief. Then, he reached out and ruffled her hair.
Yan Luo swatted his hand away in dissatisfaction. Just as she was about to unscrew the milk carton’s cap, she noticed him staring at her intently.
She paused, sighed slightly, and wordlessly handed him the carton.
She watched him accept it with satisfaction, twist open the cap, and bring it to her lips. Only then she took a sip from his hand before finally cradling the cool milk carton in her own hands.
She pouted slightly, unable to understand what went on in his head.
Why did he always assume she couldn’t open bottle caps? She exercised daily, she wasn’t weak at all, okay?!
Meanwhile, Mu Ci’s mood lifted instantly.
The girl before him had emotions no one else had ever witnessed—petulance, discontent—but she only revealed them in front of him.
As she drank her milk, the scent of it lingered around her. Her dark eyes blinked up at him, obedient and sweet, carrying a faint milky fragrance.
Like a piece of milk candy—one he wanted to kiss, chew on, and swallow whole.
This was the girl he had raised since childhood. Why should she belong to someone else?
That thought took root in his mind, and Mu Ci paused. His gaze steadied, his eyes reflecting her figure clearly.
She knew nothing about so many things that had happened before. She was just trying to be kind to him in her own way. So what was he sulking over, all alone?
How childish. How laughable.

Hearing the system notification, Yan Luo instinctively looked up. Her lips were still stained with a bit of milk foam, which she quickly licked away with the tip of her pink tongue.
Mu Ci’s hand dropped down suddenly, messing up her long black hair in a swift, mischievous motion.
Yan Luo protested, struggling to retaliate. She reached up, attempting to grab his hair in return, but she was too short and was pinned down by him. She couldn’t reach him at all.
“Xiao! Ge! Ge! If you mess up my hair again, I’ll be really mad!!”
She huffed, looking like she was on the verge of an actual tantrum.
Mu Ci finally stopped, but neither of them noticed how close they had gotten. Or rather, they were so used to this level of closeness that any distance between them would have felt unnatural.
His gaze deepened as if he had figured something out, or perhaps sensed a growing sense of urgency. He looked directly at the girl in front of him, his posture lazy, his tone light and teasing, carrying a hint of careless mischief, like he was joking.
“Do you like your Xiao Gege?”
But beneath his words, where she couldn’t see, his fingers curled slightly, and tightened and tightened.
