Chapter 345 – Your family’s plum blossom is lost again (22)
Mu Ci saw the little girl furrow her brows, dissatisfaction flickering in her eyes as she took two steps in his direction. Then—*smack*—her foot landed squarely on the top of his shoe.
After retracting her foot, she stormed inside and slammed the door behind her.
Mu Ci stared at the door that had just been shut in his face, then lowered his gaze to his shoe, now marked with a small footprint. His eyes blinked once, and the corners of his lips couldn’t help but curl up.
Angry again? But what did that have to do with him? After his attitude yesterday, was she still not satisfied? This little girl was simply unreasonable.
Despite thinking this, Mu Ci’s lips remained curved. He tilted his head slightly before pushing the door open and stepping inside.
Ever since Yan Luo had entered just now, the room had seemingly hit the pause button—falling into complete silence.
Everyone watched as she carried her books, with her face expressionless, and walked to her seat before sitting down.
Wang Shi naturally noticed Yan Luo too. Her eyebrows lifted slightly, but her attention was soon stolen by Mu Ci as he stepped inside next. Her eyes lit up, though it was hard to tell whether they held excitement or fear.
Mu Ci had encountered admiration countless times since childhood, but fear? His gaze darkened slightly as if deep in thought.
On his way to his seat, he made a deliberate stop beside Yan Luo, leaning down to ruffle her hair as payback.
The little girl froze, looking up in stunned anger. Puffing out her cheeks, she called out his name indignantly, but Mu Ci had already quickened his pace and slipped back to his own seat.
She didn’t pay much attention to things around her, but she had an inexplicable obsession with her height.
She exercised every day, drank milk morning and night, all in the hopes of growing taller. But, quite obviously, things weren’t going her way.
At this thought, Mu Ci’s gaze softened slightly. He slouched down in his seat and went back to catching up on sleep.
As the school day came to an end, Mu Ci put Yan Luo into the car—who still seemed to be sulking—before heading to his usual evening destination.
A lively bar.
Pushing open the private room door, Mu Ci was met with the familiar scent of smoke and alcohol.
A few people sat on the sofas, all relatively young. Upon seeing him enter, they instinctively straightened up.
A boy in a black baseball cap, who had seemingly been dozing off, squinted his eyes, flicked the brim of his hat with a finger, and looked up with a bright grin. “Boss, you’re here?”
“How’s the job coming along?” Mu Ci asked casually, sinking into a seat and propping his head on one hand as he accepted a cigarette from someone nearby. He swept his gaze around the room before finally speaking.
“I’ve just about finished. Their database has been successfully breached, and I copied the files without them even noticing.” The boy from before spoke up immediately, his grin revealing a hint of sharp tiger teeth.
Despite his harmless appearance, this kid had once hacked into a national intranet. He was one of the top figures in the hacker world, yet here, he was following orders like an errand boy.
The others in the room also reported their progress one after another.
“Boss, our stakeout paid off. We’ve finally figured out their patterns. It won’t be long before we expose them completely.”
A man with a sullen expression spoke, a flicker of ruthlessness and danger flashing across his face as he slowly voiced his thoughts.
The moment those words fell, everyone’s expression shifted.
Excitement stirred.
The atmosphere changed in an instant.
