Chapter 335 – Your family’s plum blossom is lost again (12)

Even though Yan Luzheng was quite dissatisfied in his heart, he still let out a breath of relief upon seeing that Yan Luo had become more lively compared to before and was now willing to interact with others.

He was usually busy with work, and Yan Luo was mostly cared for by the family’s nanny. While he was certain that the nanny he had chosen was professional and meticulous, she still couldn’t fill the emotional void in Yan Luo’s heart.

Watching the little girl grow more and more silent each day made Yan Luzheng deeply anxious. Now that she was finally smiling again, even though he appeared reluctant on the surface, he still felt relieved, his mind occupied with his own thoughts.

Later, Mu Ci indeed started visiting Yan Luo’s home frequently as invited. Since his little princess was happy, Yan Luzheng had no objections. He even silently instructed the nanny to prepare a room for Mu Ci in the Yan family’s villa.

However, Mu Ci’s behavior afterward struck Yan Luzheng as somewhat odd. The calm and composed child he had first met now seemed like an illusion. This feeling became even stronger after some time spent observing Mu Ci and comparing him to their family’s intelligent and sharp little princess.

Yan Luo was exceptionally bright, able to absorb knowledge several times faster than the average person, whereas Mu Ci seemed far too mediocre—almost to the point of appearing slow-witted.

Furthermore, he had a somewhat willful temperament. However, his attitude toward Yan Luo was quite good—perhaps simply because his little princess was too adorable? After observing for a while and finding nothing particularly suspicious, Yan Luzheng could only come to this conclusion.

The reaction of the Mu family couple also puzzled Yan Luzheng. He had thoroughly investigated and confirmed that Mu Ci was indeed their biological child, yet Mu Beicheng and his wife treated him vastly differently from their eldest son—as if they were worlds apart.

Even after he intervened, Mu Beicheng’s attitude barely changed. Though Mu Ci was never lacking in material necessities, in the Mu family, he still seemed like a stranger.

It was odd, yet no matter how much he looked into it, he couldn’t pinpoint the real issue. All he could do was keep a closer eye on things.

As for Mu Ci, Yan Luzheng found him acceptable enough. If his little princess truly liked him and continued to like him in the future, he wouldn’t mind.

After all, he had long considered that it might be best to find a not-so-brilliant boy to marry into the Yan family, someone Yan Luo could easily control.

Time passed quickly. Mu Ci did take good care of Yan Luo, and from a young age, she had been beautiful and charming. Even in elementary school, she often attracted the attention of boys.

With excellent grades and outstanding learning ability, she was practically the ideal goddess in the hearts of many little boys. Many girls also liked to get close to her.

But she had no interest in socializing with others, always keeping a cold and distant demeanor—except when she was with Mu Ci. The moment she saw him, her beautiful eyes would light up instantly.

Mu Ci, on the other hand, was a poor student who spent most of his classes napping. Yet, he had an extraordinarily handsome face, tinged with arrogance, and a smirk that carried a hint of roguish charm.

That face alone made the girls in class adore him. And since even their aloof goddess treated him differently—and they were childhood friends who had known each other for years—the well-off boys in their school naturally felt displeased.

But Mu Ci was not one to be easily messed with. Although he was terrible at studying, he was exceptional at fighting and causing trouble.

And so, Yan Luo spent her elementary and middle school years following Mu Ci around, until they entered high school.
