Chapter 276 – Great God, I heard you’re going to travel a thousand li to deliver (10)
Yan Luo was so willful that Fang Shi didn’t even know what to say to her.
And yet, deep down, he indulged her.
After some thought, Fang Shi set aside his preferred jungle role and spoke into the mic, “Then come to bottom lane together with me. You support, I’ll deal the damage. Just follow behind me and throw out a skill from time to time.”
—Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.
The words almost slipped out, but just as he was about to say them, he realized how ambiguous they sounded, even if he was saying them to another guy. He swallowed them back at the last moment.
His brows furrowed slightly, as if he himself couldn’t quite understand his own behavior.
“Mm.” The response from the other side was lazy and unhurried, carrying a hint of drowsiness, slightly huskier than the voice he’d heard before.
But confusion was one thing. When it came to this voice, he had no resistance at all.
He couldn’t help but ask, “Why does your voice sound so hoarse? Didn’t get enough rest?”
Yan Luo selected a hero as instructed, then cleared his throat at Fang Shi’s question. “I’ve been a bit busy lately, probably caught a mild cold.”
—Have you taken medicine? Drink more water. Why aren’t you taking better care of yourself?
Fang Shi : …
What the hell was he even thinking?
“What’s wrong?”
His movements were loud, so the other side asked in confusion.
“Nothing.” Fang Shi replied quickly, though even he wasn’t sure what emotions were tangled in his voice. Instinctively, he reached for the lighter on the table, but just as his fingers touched it, he recalled the boy’s words and paused for a long moment before sulkily pulling his hand back.
Without the numbing effect of nicotine, the irritation in his chest only deepened. Staring at the game screen, he blinked a few times, held back for a long time, then finally blurted out, “You won’t let me smoke.”
His voice was so low that Yan Luo didn’t catch it right away. She casually raised a brow. “What did you say?”
Fang Shi realized what he had just let slip and fell silent.
Feeling a little stifled, he clicked his mouse and started the game.
“Nothing.”
This round, Yan Luo obediently followed Fang Shi’s lead, casting skills when needed, retreating when necessary.
So well-behaved.
Like a cat, she will be too lazy to resist when you spoil it, but when you don’t, it’ll have you gritting your teeth in frustration.
Watching the small animal-like support hero following behind his own character, swaying with each step, Fang Shi felt an odd itch in his heart.
For the first time, Yan Luo’s screen displayed the word ‘VICTORY’.
“Want another round?” Fang Shi’s lips curved slightly.
Yan Luo glanced at the time. “Not tonight. It’s late, and I have class tomorrow.”
“You’re in college?”
“Mm. Let’s play tomorrow night.”
Fang Shi tapped his fingers lightly on the table. “Then I’ll call you tomorrow night.”
Just like that, he’d decided who she’d be playing with tomorrow.
Yan Luo paused for a second, then let out a soft chuckle. “Alright.”
Then she exited the voice chat.
Fang Shi, however, remained frozen in place, still caught up in the lingering sound of her final laugh.
He ran his tongue lightly over his lips and pressed the stop recording button.
Disgusted at how much he was acting like some kind of obsessed creep, especially towards another guy, he still couldn’t stop himself from clicking the play button.
Yan Luo didn’t say much. It was quiet on her end, she was probably at home.
A college student…
Fang Shi placed an unlit cigarette between his lips.
And quietly listened to the recording all over again.
