Chapter 273 – Great God, I heard you’re going to travel a thousand li to deliver (7)
—You can really be in the right and confident, huh?
Hearing the newbie’s voice brush past his ears, Fang Shi finally understood what it meant to grit one’s teeth in frustration.
He wanted to smash his mouse.
This person was practically his nemesis. He was willful, but she was even more willful, and she was actually in the right.
With a teammate like this, no matter how skilled Fang Shi was, Yan Luo managed to drag him down.
He had no idea how she managed to attract the hatred of four or five opponents, successfully surviving on low health just long enough to make it to his side, only for the two of them to get ganged up on and beaten to death together.
This wasn’t a teammate. This was a spy.
Every single time, she somehow managed to reveal his exact position to the enemy.
There was barely any time to react before a barrage of skills rained down on him. Even with Fang Shi’s fast hands, at most, he could take one of them down with him.
Unsurprisingly, they lost this round.
Staring at the glaring ‘DEFEAT’ on his screen, Fang Shi let out a deep sigh.
This game was exhausting as hell.
Lifting his hand, he lit another cigarette and took a drag. White smoke slipped from his lips and dispersed into the air. His eyes flicked to the voice chat panel, and at the sight of a certain name, his eyelid twitched slightly.
Before he could say anything, the other side spoke first. Her tone was light, carrying an emotion that made him feel a little uneasy.
“Forget it. Your rank is too high. I just end up dragging you down. It’s getting late, I’m heading home.”
Her voice was lazy, tinged with fatigue, like she had come here to vent but only made herself feel worse.
Just those few words, and all the frustration he had felt because of her dissipated in an instant. He even had the urge to say something to comfort her. But before he could, the sound of a chair scraping against the floor reached his ears, followed by another voice.
“Brother Luo, get some rest. Next time, I’ll carry you on my new account, it’ll be amazing.”
Hearing that, Fang Shi’s fingers tightened slightly around his cigarette. There was some rustling on the other end, and then her voice came through again. It was casual, indifferent, as if nothing really interested her.
“Smoke less.”
Before he could even register what she meant, her ID had already gone dark. A few goodbyes echoed in the chat, and then that voice, the one that made his ears itch just a little, was gone.
“Sorry for dragging you down all night,” Liu Ying apologized. He had expected Yan Luo to play poorly, but not this badly. Feeling guilty for putting this unsuspecting streamer through it, he sent a bunch of gifts in the stream chat before adding, “Ranked matches are about to start. You should get go play ranked matches, we’re logging off now.”
Fang Shi acknowledged with a hum, watching as the other two IDs dimmed. He then informed his viewers that he was switching accounts and temporarily cut the stream.
He still hadn’t exited that disastrous match, but the person who had been holding him back was already offline. Staring at her profile picture, he hesitated for a moment before clicking [Add Friend]. Only then did he log into his main account, ready to start his ranked matches.
Without Yan Luo constantly sabotaging him, Fang Shi finally regained his form, turning the tide of battle and leading his team to victory.
Yet, despite winning, he didn’t feel as satisfied as he should have.
For some reason, that boy’s voice kept echoing in his mind.
Lazy, slightly subdued, almost deliberately so. But to him, it sounded strangely pleasant.
