Chapter 237 – Professor, Please Don’t Raise Zombies (27)

The glaring threat, combined with the guns around them twisted into a tangled mess by the little girl’s single hand, made everyone hesitate to underestimate such a threat. For a moment, the surroundings fell silent.

However, there was one person who could still smile. Yan Che looked at the little girl’s threatening posture, her claws bared as if she wanted to pounce and scratch them, looking adorably fierce.

He lightly licked his lips and smiled as he walked behind Yan Luo, not sparing any praise. “Luoluo, you’re amazing.”

What’s with that exaggerated tone? Yan Luo shot him a glance, then snorted coldly and turned her head away, clearly showing she was still mad at him. Don’t think it’s over just because I’m ignoring you.

She was so stubborn yet cute, making him want to pull her into his arms and ruffle her hair.

Just disarming their guns was already proof that she listened to him, though he wouldn’t have minded if Yan Luo made a bigger fuss.

The fond smile in his eyes was unmistakable.

“Captain…” Even with special abilities, they probably wouldn’t stand a chance against these two. The group of people stayed on alert, their eyes shifting to Cheng Xiaoxiao.

Cheng Xiaoxiao was one of the top fighters at the Beixuan Base. To have trouble even with these two made them wonder just how terrifying their abilities were. They couldn’t even imagine.

“I think…” Cheng Xiaoxiao, having never suffered a defeat like this, spoke with difficulty, trying to calm her tone. She willingly deactivated her abilities, signaling her intention to make peace. “There may have been some misunderstanding between us.”

“Oh?” Yan Che smiled knowingly, pushing his glasses up. The emotions in his eyes were hard to read.

Yan Luo snorted, feeling a deep dislike for Cheng Xiaoxiao. Yan Luo thought, not to mention that in the original plot, she had schemed to expose Yan Che’s lab, now, if they hadn’t been stronger, would her attitude have been so friendly? Only after realizing they couldn’t win did she begin to talk about negotiations. In the original course, she had used scheming repeatedly, always thinking of herself as a protector of the human race, a soldier with a sacred duty.

Yan Luo really wanted to scratch her face and see just how thick-skinned she could be, making her selfish actions seem so noble.

Hmph! ╭(╯^╰)╮

“We are members of the First Team from Beixuan Base. We only became cautious because the situation around us seemed unusual and your attire didn’t seem to fit with the norm,” Cheng Xiaoxiao tried to downplay their earlier actions.

After all, even if they could escape now, making enemies of such powerful individuals would bring them nothing but harm.

Her attitude was as humble as it could get, something she hadn’t done since the beginning of the apocalypse.

Yan Che smiled faintly, lifting his little girl back into his arms and speaking in an ambiguous tone, as though he had some unknown intent, “I see.”

“And who are you two?” Cheng Xiaoxiao asked.

“We’re just some freelance mercenaries, not affiliated with any base,” Yan Che replied without hesitation, spinning an entirely unprepared lie.

Yan Luo, who had just lifted her head from Yan Che’s embrace, was caught off guard by this blatant lie. She almost choked, glaring at him.

Yan Che lowered his head, meeting her gaze as she looked up at him, still smiling. He secretly took a level three crystal core from his pocket and slipped it into her mouth.

For Yan Luo, a Level 3 crystal core was like a small snack.
