After trying to calm down for a few minutes, Song Jianchu lay down on the bed. He lifted the blanket to cover himself completely, closed his eyes, and started counting sheep to try and hypnotize himself.
This set of concert-themed pajamas was the oldest set in Song Jianchu’s wardrobe, but luckily he had bought a larger size, so even though he had grown taller, it still fit him well. Because the fabric was comfortable, he usually slept very well in these pajamas, but tonight, he found himself unable to sleep.
After counting to three hundred and eighty-seven sheep and tossing and turning thirty-two times, Song Jianchu sat up in frustration. He sat on the bed for two seconds before decisively getting up to change his clothes.
He tiptoed to the door and listened for a few seconds before gently pushing it open. However, he froze mid-step when he saw a pair of long legs in black sleeping pants blocking the doorway. Slowly raising his eyes, he met a pair of slightly narrowed grey eyes.
Song Jianchu: “…”
It was Mu Ye, who seemed to have just taken a shower and still had some warm steam on his body. He held a glass of milk in his hand and looked at Song Jianchu for a few seconds before raising an eyebrow and asking, “Where are you going?”
Song Jianchu was momentarily stunned and naturally retracted his foot, saying, “I’m a bit thirsty and want to get a glass of water.”
Mu Ye smiled and handed him the glass of milk, “Here, drink this.”
Song Jianchu numbly took the glass and said, “Thank you.”
Mu Ye’s gaze dropped to the pattern on his chest for a moment before smiling and saying, “I usually sleep late. If you can’t sleep, come find me.”
Song Jianchu nodded, “Okay.”
Mu Ye’s lips curled up, “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
The door to the master bedroom closed again. Mu Ye stood at the door for a few seconds, pressing down on his upturned lips before turning around and heading to his room.
Listening to the sound of footsteps fading away outside the door, Song Jianchu stood by the bed holding the glass of milk for two minutes before drinking it all in one gulp. With a clear mind, he climbed back into bed and fell asleep peacefully.
The next day, Song Jianchu was finally able to sleep in since he didn’t have to prepare for business.
Perhaps it was because of the glass of milk he had before bed, but he fell asleep quickly and slept soundly all night without any dreams.
When he walked past the guest room and saw that the door was closed, he realized that Mu Ye must have slept in quite late.
Song Jianchu quickly went to the wardrobe to change out of his pajamas, and then went to the bathroom to freshen up. After washing up, he went to the kitchen to make his morning coffee. He didn’t use a loud coffee machine, just simple instant coffee, and made breakfast while drinking it.
He kept the breakfast warm and lazily sat on the sofa, playing with his phone, waiting for the guests to wake up so they could eat breakfast together.
He casually opened Weibo and looked at his private messages. As expected, his inbox was filled with messages urging him to update his vlog. It was already time for his normal vlog update, and his fans had already started to demand it.
To prepare for his future departure from the internet, Song Jianchu deliberately reduced his online presence and had no plans to update his vlog again.
The messages from his fans were varied, but Song Jianchu casually clicked on a few of them and read them as jokes.
One message caught his interest, like a debt collection message from a loan company. He clicked on it and read it.
As he read, his lips gradually stiffened.
“Dear Song Jianchu, this is the last warning from your loving junior sister. Please publish a new vlog before noon today. The vlog must be at least 15 minutes long, meet the fans expectations, cannot be padded with irrelevant content, and cannot use repeated historical material for more than one minute. If you don’t update by noon, I will share your graduation photo, which has been occupying the top spot of our school’s outstanding graduates list, on our teacher’s Weibo private message. I believe that the male god will cheer for the inspirational youth of our school, just like our teachers and students have been doing. :)”
Song Jianchu’s face darkened as he clicked on the photo.
He saw his own graduation photo, which looked like a wanted poster, posted on the campus’s list of outstanding graduates.
He clenched his phone tightly, his hand trembling with force.
Did the school really have to post the graduates photos for so many years?
He took a deep breath and quickly checked the time.
It was 11:32, and there was less than half an hour until noon.
Twenty seconds later.
Song Jianchu sat down in the study in front of his computer, expressionless as he opened the editing software.
When Mu Ye woke up, he found that no one was in the living room or the master bedroom, but there was breakfast for two in the kitchen, which had been kept warm. He stretched his shoulders and leisurely searched the house, finally finding Song Jianchu in the study.
The top internet celebrity was fully absorbed in his work, staring at the computer screen with a blank expression. His fingers moved skillfully, rapidly clicking the mouse and keyboard, dragging and editing vlog video materials.
He seemed like an emotionless editing teacher.
The top internet celebrity was too focused on his work to notice Mu Ye approaching.
Mu Ye watched with interest from behind as the mega influencer produced his vlog. After watching for a while, he lazily leaned forward, resting his hands on the chair, and suggested, “That segment of material was good, don’t delete it.”
Song Jianchu’s fingers, which were swiftly editing, paused for a moment but quickly regained their composure. He continued his work and said, “That segment has footage of other members, so we can’t use it for personal purposes.”
He was editing the video material from the Christmas event that fans had sent him. Luckily, the fans had helped him shoot a lot of material that night. He had just been notified by the program team that this episode of the vlog would be treated as a special experience and he could barely manage to produce one episode.
Mu Ye’s voice was still a little hoarse, and he said nonchalantly, “It doesn’t matter if I’m in it or not.”
There were still a few minutes left until twelve o’clock, and the vlog was still short of the required length. There wasn’t enough usable material.
Song Jianchu hesitated for a few seconds.
Mu Ye placed his hand on his head and lazily smiled, saying, “Top internet celebrity, give me a chance to make an appearance.”
Song Jianchu’s expression didn’t change, and he moved his fingers, partly editing in the footage of Mu Ye’s appearance. Finally, they managed to make the vlog fifteen minutes long and quickly uploaded it.
At eleven fifty-eight, fans who were making a fuss in the comments section of the Demon King’s little Brother were pleasantly surprised to find that the delayed vlog of the big-shot had been updated!
[Oh my god, am I dreaming? My son updated??]
[Ah ah ah ah, the special experience vlog is so interesting, it’s like watching behind the scenes.]
[Oh my god, family, quickly jump to 9:34, there’s a surprise!!]
[In this lifetime, I can actually see my treasure and my male god together in the smelly treasure’s vlog [tears].]
[Filming a vlog with my male god (accomplished), congratulations to Smelly Treasure for achieving a 30% star-chasing progress!!!]
[The power of the top internet celebrity is invincible, the trending topics are like the ones he opened at home, even a vlog update can make it to the trending topics……]
……
Song Jianchu breathed a sigh of relief after updating the vlog on time.
When having breakfast with Mu Ye, he naturally picked up his phone and quietly opened the private message from that fan.
Sure enough, the fan had sent a new private message.
[A reminder machine without emotions: Wow, you’re so punctual, senior! It must be hard work to update your vlog. It’s really good! It’s such a shame that we, the students and teachers of our school, can only admire your photos internally for now… hehe, kiss kiss, senior, please update on time next time too. I also really want to share the cool photo of you speaking under the national flag with my male god [blowing a kiss]]
Song Jianchu gritted his teeth and typed with a dark face.
[Song Jianchu: What year did you graduate?]
After waiting a few seconds, the other party didn’t reply to him.
Song Jianchu gritted his teeth and closed his eyes.
Just in case he couldn’t block this person, he finally decided to go back to school in the afternoon and deal with this leftover problem personally.
“Who are you chatting with?” the person opposite suddenly asked.
Song Jianchu put down his phone without much expression and continued eating, “Just junk messages.”
Mu Ye lazily propped up his face and said, “You worked hard recording the program and getting up early to make videos for them. You really spoil your fans.”
Song Jianchu lowered his eyes and drank porridge, “The material takes up memory, just clearing it out.”
Mu Ye looked at him and naturally asked, “Why did you change your pajamas? The other one looked better.”
Song Jianchu paused with his spoon in his mouth and found a casual excuse, “The size is a bit small.”
“Small?” Mu Ye raised an eyebrow lightly, “I saw it yesterday and it fit well.”
Song Jianchu calmly said, “Mm.”
Mu Ye smiled kindly and said, “It’s okay. I remember the studio still has inventory of that merchandise. If you like it, I’ll bring a few more sets for you next time.”
Song Jianchu: “…”
“There are seven different styles, so you can change them every week.” Mu Ye tapped his face with interest, “Do you want them?”
Song Jianchu held the spoon to his lips and thought calmly.
That set of pajamas was randomly given to a lucky fan for purchase qualification and was limited to one per person. It had long been discontinued.
Because it was comfortable to wear, he had tried to collect them.
Unfortunately, no one was willing to sell this rare merchandise. The male version was even more super rare. Now, the ones sold online were all pirated copies. Collecting the entire series of official products was the dream of all Mu Ye fans.
After struggling for a long time, he couldn’t resist the temptation of collecting the rare merchandise.
Song Jianchu slowly drank a sip of porridge and said calmly, “Thank you.”
“What’s the fuss?” Mu Ye glanced at him meaningfully and said, “Everything I have is yours. It’s just a few sets of pajamas with my picture on them.”
Song Jianchu: “…”
“If you want any other merchandise, just let me know.” Mu Ye smiled gently, “The studio also has my body pillow, do you want me to bring it over as well?”
After he finished speaking, the person across from him looked at him expectantly.
Song Jianchu calmly said, “Just the pajamas are enough. Thank you.”
Mu Ye’s expression was regretful for a moment, then nodded as if understanding. He lowered his eyes in thought and said, “That’s right. A pillow doesn’t have the same feel as a real person, and it won’t cooperate with whatever you want to do. I’m better.”
Song Jianchu calmly drank his porridge without looking at Mu Ye.
The two finished breakfast together and were preparing to leave for their respective destinations.
Mu Ye’s studio was having a team-building gathering in the afternoon, while Song Jianchu had an appointment for a hospital checkup and needed to go back to school.
Song Jianchu drove Mu Ye first and tried to pick the most low-key car in the garage.
At the request of their cautious benefactor, the two were fully armed even inside the car.
Mu Ye comfortably sat in the eye-catching luxury car, lazily propping his face with his finger joints and turning to look at the benefactor who was sending him to work.
The boy covered his eye-catching hair with a hat and his face with black sunglasses, looking calm and composed.
Mu Ye smiled contentedly.
When they arrived at the team-building location’s parking lot, Mu Ye got out of the car and apologized, “Sorry, I should have accompanied you, but I can’t miss the team-building event.”
“It’s okay,” Song Jianchu said in the car, “We can meet tomorrow.”
“No need, I don’t have a date today.” Mu Ye smiled, “I’ll contact you as soon as it’s over. Drive safely.”
“Okay,” Song Jianchu nodded.
Mu Ye was about to call Gu Jiaming when he was suddenly stopped by the person in the car, “Wait a minute.”
Mu Ye put down his phone and turned around, “What’s up?”
Song Jianchu got out of the car, walked around the front, and handed him a black card, “There’s no limit on this card. You can use it to pay for the team-building expenses and anything else in the future.”
Mu Ye looked at the card and was slightly stunned.
“No need,” Mu Ye declined, “We agreed to pay after the contract ends.”
Song Jianchu didn’t say anything, just opened Mu Ye’s coat and put the card in his inner pocket.
Mu Ye looked down at the boy’s actions.
Through the not-so-thick fabric, the boy’s cool hand left a clear and invisible mark on his chest.
After putting away the card, Song Jianchu helped Mu Ye put on his coat. He put his other hand in his coat pocket and leaned lazily against the car, planning to watch Mu Ye leave before leaving himself.
Song Jianchu raised his chin slightly, “Go ahead.”
Mu Ye quietly looked at him and didn’t move.
The man’s cold and beautiful eyes suddenly became deep, his narrow eyes slightly narrowed, and under the cold light of the parking lot, he appeared bewitching and dangerous.
Without waiting for Song Jianchu to see the deep emotion in the man’s eyes, Mu Ye resumed his gentle smile and pulled down his mask to give him a kiss on the face. “Thank you, sponsor” he said.
Unexpectedly, the man dared to do this in public, and Song Jianchu was left stunned by the kiss.
Two girls came to the parking lot to retrieve their car and saw the two men by the luxury car, standing closely together as if they were kissing.
They excitedly whispered to each other, “Wow, this is so thrilling. Rich people really know how to have fun!” “My son has a car like this too! But it’s the cheapest one in his garage.”
Song Jianchu hurriedly pushed Mu Ye away, whispering, “Someone’s coming.”
Mu Ye propped himself up against the car and shielded him with his hand, covering half of his face and gently stroking his cheek with his thumb to calm him down. “Don’t be afraid, it’s okay,” he whispered.
In the distance, the women’s voices became hesitant, “Oh my god, my son isn’t making out with another man, is he?” “Come to think of it, that person outside kind of looks like my son’s idol.” “Damn it! Could my son really be dating his idol?!”
Song Jianchu was left speechless.
He grabbed onto the front of Mu Ye’s coat and stopped breathing for a moment.
As the responsible sponsor, Song Jianchu remained calm during the crisis and thought to himself that it was okay; if they were just fans, it would be easy to negotiate and get them to keep quiet. Just give them what they want and the problem should be solved.
Before he could decide whether to give them money or a car, the other woman couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t tease him,” she said. Song Jianchu was confused. “Huh?” he asked.
The woman laughed and said, “That big shot just finished filming and couldn’t wait to post a vlog showing off his progress in chasing after his idol. If he’s just the leader of his fan club, he’s already showing off like that. If he was really dating his idol, he’d buy ten trending topics and show off their love all over the world.”
Song Jianchu was left speechless. The other woman thought for a moment and also laughed. “Yeah, my son is a genius when it comes to showing off. If he really was dating his idol, there’s no way he’d be so low-key.”
As the two women got into their car and drove away, Song Jianchu gradually calmed down. The eyes behind his sunglasses became indifferent and even numb.
Mu Ye stood up straight and let go of the man’s face, but not before giving it a pinch. Seeing the obvious displeasure on the man’s face, he couldn’t help but chuckle. “It looks like we can be more daring in the future and not be so nervous,” he said, adjusting his expression. “Thanks to you, it seems like no one will believe them.”
Song Jianchu remained expressionless. Mu Ye paused for a moment before smiling again. “Luckily, it’s you,” he said. “Otherwise, no one would believe us.”
