Chapter 18 – Terminate The Contract
After kicking open the door, Coach T entered calmly, holding a large stack of books, amidst the astonished gazes of the crowd.
He elegantly placed books such as “Human Weakness,” “The Way of the Wolf,” and “The Ghost Valley” on the table one by one. Then he smiled bitterly and said, “Could you please take care of the fanboys in the team? They have already resorted to personal attacks.”
The books were sent to them, accompanied by a letter with hastily written words:
Coach T, how are you? While you’re doing well, your old man isn’t.
Read more books, learn to be a better person, secure the championship for Clear.
Coach T felt bitter in his heart… He also wanted Clear to stay, but the child had already made up his mind to leave, and there was no way to keep him.
Ever since he entered the room, everyone’s gaze remained fixed on him. For some reason, the coach seemed to have aged a lot.
…Lin Xingling silently approached from behind.
Cheng Che lowered his voice and coughed, “Don’t move, I know you’re behind me.”
Lin Xingling pinched Cheng Che’s shoulder and chuckled.
“We are dealing with some small matters over here…”
Zhang Hui furrowed his brow and interrupted, “Coach, can you leave your matters aside for now? We’ll take care of them later, alright?”
“Is it about Clear leaving the team?” Coach T smiled gracefully, “How can you call it a small matter?”
His smile sent shivers down people’s spines… Not only Zhang Hui and the others, but Cheng Che and Lin Xingling also felt the same way.
“It’s none of your business, and you don’t need to worry about it.” Zhang Hui pulled him closer and whispered through gritted teeth.
Coach T leaned down gently, bringing his mouth close to Zhang Hui’s ear. His voice was husky, carrying an indescribable tone, “What if I want to interfere, Zhang, Jing, Li?”
The last name was emphasized, appearing ambiguous.
Zhang Hui dared not think further.
According to internal sources, this coach was the pet canary of the club’s owner. Although everyone looked down on him, they dared not show it.
No one wanted to provoke the owner.
And it was true that the owner had stayed in the branch office last night and had not left yet…
So, there was no choice but to let him make a fuss.
“As you wish.”
With Zhang Hui’s consent, Coach T nodded to the several management personnel. Seeing no objections, he spoke up, “Let me briefly state my own opinions.”
“Clear is a substitute player signed by our team through formal legal procedures. During the contract period, we have an obligation to provide him with equipment, salary, and a platform…”
At this point, Coach T changed his tone, “And Clear’s obligation is to comply with arrangements and participate in training or matches.”
Upon hearing his words, Cheng Che’s heart sank.
Coach T smiled and looked at him, “So, it can be said that Clear playing last night was an obligation, right?”
Realizing that the coach was siding with the club, Zhang Hui immediately nodded and flattered, “Yes, it was an obligation, an obligation.”
“Now, if Clear wants to terminate the contract early, then it must be done according to the provisions in the contract, right?”
With sound reasoning and persuasive arguments, he nailed down the crucial point.
After listening to his words, Cheng Che, who had little knowledge of law, fell silent and turned to look at Lin Xingling for help.
Lin Xingling tapped the table and said, “Yes, no one said there was an issue with the contract, nor did anyone suggest bypassing the contractual procedures. What I mean is…”
“Article 114 of the Contract Law stipulates that the parties may agree that when one party breaches the contract, they shall pay a certain amount of liquidated damages or calculate the amount of compensation for the losses caused by the breach.”
“These are the things he found on his phone while taking the bus. He thought they might be useful, so he took note of them.
Coach T rubbed his sore waist and maintained a calm smile on his face. “Please continue.”
Lin Xingling didn’t hold back either. “The spring season prize pool is 12 million, with 5 million for the champions and 3 million for the runners-up. Even if Clear stays and helps you win the championship, it’s just a difference of… 2 million, right?”
Looking at foolish Cheng Che, who knew he would come through at a critical moment.
Although 8 million means nothing to him personally, being able to negotiate it down to 6 million is still impressive…
Cheng Che proudly crossed his legs.
Zhang Hui reluctantly pounded the table.
“Yes, but the contract deadline is August 28th, after the championship cup is over, right?” Coach T remained unfazed. “The championship cup prize money is 1 million dollars, which is equivalent to 6.38 million yuan.”
“So, whether it’s 8 million or not, Stars can weigh it for themselves.”
The situation instantly turned around, and the large office fell silent.
Zhang Hui had a winning expression on his face, and the administrators sitting with him also relaxed their expressions.
“But…” Coach T flicked his stray hair aside, revealing the red mark on his neck as he let go. “After saying so much, I would like to hear Clear’s thoughts.”
Cheng Che, when called upon, stood up reflexively. “F-Five, 5 million… can, can be accepted… ah no, 8 million is, is 8 million…”
He stuttered.
Lin Xingling patted his back. “No rush, take your time.”
Zhang Hui snorted coldly. “Just 8 million? That’s quite an audacious demand.”
Did you have celery for lunch, stuttering fool?
He was determined to leave; even a sky-high penalty of 8 million couldn’t stop him.
Coach T understood his intentions and naturally wouldn’t obstruct anymore.
“Well… 2 million is also acceptable.”
“Huh?”
Everyone was bewildered.
Coach T contradicted his own statement. “If we let Qi Qi play as the marksman in the championship cup, our loss would indeed be 2 million.”
“Gu Xinch-” Zhang Hui exploded, rising from his seat. The muscles on his face trembled from excitement, giving him a look as if he could resort to violence against the weak young man beside him at any moment.
He was bad, not stupid. Selling Clear for 2 million was a losing deal from any angle.
The money they would lose would be the team’s loss. Individuals with the surname Gu couldn’t just get away with such wrongdoing by relying on their status as the big boss.
With that in mind, Zhang Hui became even more confident. “Our management team will make our own judgment on how much the penalty should be.”
Coach T smirked. “Haha…”
Coincidentally, just as he showed his smile, rhythmic knocking came from outside the door.
A deep, magnetic voice followed. “May I come in?”
It was the club’s big boss. Cheng Che recognized it, but he didn’t flinch. Crossing his legs again, he sat back down.
Zhang Hui: …
“How can I not let him in? Please come in, please come in.”
Pushing aside Coach T, he quickly went to open the door for the boss. “Boss Wang, you came to inspect so early in the morning.”
“Mhm.”
Boss Wang entered without looking at anyone, after casually acknowledging Zhang Hui, he walked straight toward Coach T. “Xunxun, I’ve been looking for you everywhere. Turns out you’re here playing.”
Coach T nodded. “Helping to handle the transfer of team members.”
Lin Xingling clenched his fists.
“Yes, Boss Wang, you see, it’s this player Clear. He helped us defeat DW last night, but his contract still has two months left, and now he wants to terminate it early…”
“The penalty is clearly set at 8 million… what do you think…” Zhang Hui wanted to say more but was glanced at by Boss Wang, so he didn’t dare to speak.
After all, he was the club’s big boss, not only having KPL teams under his command but also LPL (League of Legends) and PCL (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) teams. How could he possibly bother himself with a mere 8 million?
“Xunxun, what do you think?” Boss Wang only asked Coach T.
Cheng Che and Lin Xingling, who were ignored: silent bystanders–
Coach T lowered his gaze, pondered for a moment, and then uttered a few words with his lips moving, “It’s not my concern, I don’t care.”
Playing the part of a submissive canary.
“Heh… What’s not your concern? If you want to intervene, who wouldn’t listen to you?” Boss Wang reached out and pinched his waist, teasing him vaguely. “You stayed up so late last night and woke up so early today, aren’t you tired?”
Cheng Che, being naive, took it as the boss caring for his employees.
On the other hand, Lin Xingling suppressed her anger and worried that they might say something inappropriate for children.
“…”
After circling around with him for a while, Coach T finally brought the conversation back to the main issue.
“8 million is indeed too much. Considering Clear’s contributions to the team over the past year… I think the penalty can be reduced appropriately.”
Boss Wang nodded in agreement. “How much do you think it should be?”
Coach T replied, “5 million.”
“As Stars said, 2 million for the loss, plus a 1 million penalty and a 2 million transfer fee, not too much, not too little, 5 million.”
Zhang Hui was dumbfounded upon hearing this.
Lin Xingling said, “No objections.”
Compared to 8 million, anyone would choose 5 million.
A smirk appeared on Boss Wang’s face. “Very well.”
He then instructed Zhang Hui, “Prepare three new contracts, modify the penalty regulations, and include the items the coach just mentioned. 5 million, let Clear terminate his contract.”
“Yes,” Zhang Hui felt reluctant, but he could only comply.
With the matter resolved, Boss Wang looked at the early morning runaway beauty who escaped from his embrace and asked him, “Are you satisfied?”
“Go rest.”
Coach T delivered on his words, swift and decisive… although he walked with a slight limp.
Cheng Che watched them leave with concern.
When he turned back and saw Zhang Hui, he raised his middle finger at him. “Ignore~”
His emotions changed effortlessly.
“You… you…” Zhang Hui’s eyebrows twisted into a knot.
Lin Xingling reached out and grabbed Cheng Che’s shoulder, smiling, “He’s just a child, Manager Zhang, don’t lower yourself to his level.”
After saying that, she pinched Cheng Che a little harder. “Don’t cause trouble.”
“Ts…” Zhang Hui clicked his tongue.
Cheng Che said, “Zhang Hui, I’ll hang your mother upside down in front of the TG team’s gate to welcome all guests!”
Once the words were out, everyone was stunned.
Author’s note:
(ps: Boss Wang doesn’t have many scenes, and he’s not a CP with Coach T
This story features a cast of esports gods, with the main CP as the main characters, and other CPs have their roles in the extras.)
[Mini Theater]
No Mini Theater today, sad. Writing this story is more painful than writing the villains in my own story.
I Don’t like the insult about the managers mom. Although he is in asshole, there is no reason to involve family. There should be also base lines jb cursing
Finally he managed to leave this shitty team
thank you for the chapter
welp about to say that i didn’t expect coach T with the boss but then i saw the author’s note lol
thank you for the chapter!
