Part 3 of Chapter 81
Please Like Her 32 – Happy Birthday
At the moment she was about to leave, someone shouted from behind, “Shang Lu! Happy birthday to you!”
Shang Lu stopped in her tracks, her body stiffened, and her heart started beating faster.
Although it wasn’t tomorrow yet, it seemed she couldn’t escape it.
She didn’t know how to describe her current feelings, not exactly happy, not exactly sad, just feeling a bit blank in her mind.
One person started first, followed by shouts of “Happy birthday!” “Happy birthday, Shang Lu!”
She didn’t know who started it, but someone began to sing the birthday song, and soon it became a chorus from almost the entire audience.
The staff of <Salvation Plan> also joined the chorus of the birthday song, standing on the stage, singing and clapping to the beat.
“Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday, happy birthday~ Happy birthday, Shang Lu~”
Shanglu lowered her head to look at her phone.
At exactly twelve o’clock, a new day arrived.
She pursed her lips, held back her tears, and turned to smile and wave at everyone, saying, “Thank you, everyone. I am very happy!”
“Happy birthday, Shang Lu!”
“May Shang Lu be happy every day!”
“Go back soon! Remember to eat cake and longevity noodles!”
Each of these shouts was a blessing from the audience to her.
Shang Lu bowed deeply in their direction and then raised her hand and waved, saying, “I’m leaving now~”
The audience urged Shang Lu to go back and rest.
Yue Qi stood there, raised his hand, and with one hand on his chin, looked somewhat annoyed at the staff. “How come we didn’t even prepare a cake?”
The staff replied, “Director Yue, we contacted Shanglu’s team and confirmed that she has never celebrated her birthday before, so we couldn’t make the decision on our own.”
Never celebrated her birthday?
Yue Qi looked at Shang Lu’s back, feeling that she seemed quite happy. He thought it might be because the young girl was shy and didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, so he didn’t think much of it and continued to lower his head to sign autographs for the audience.
Meanwhile, in the corridor.
Shang Lu stopped in her tracks and looked up at the person in front of her, smiling, “You’re here.”
Seeing this, the staff beside Shang Lu immediately left.
Chi Yan was wearing a light-colored coat, and he was holding a bouquet of flowers in his arms as he approached and said, “I was in the next screening room. The movie was very interesting.”
“Thank you.” Shang Lu reached out to take the flowers, but her hand was suspended in mid-air.
Because she saw that the bouquet Chi Yan was holding was a bouquet of roses.
But… there was no scent of roses in the air.
Chi Yan held out the bouquet in front of her and said, “Try touching them.”
Shanglu was somewhat puzzled, but she didn’t doubt Chi Yan’s words, so she reached out and touched the rose petals.
Huh?
It’s soft.
Shang Lu curiously pinched it and then exclaimed in disbelief, “It’s fake!”
Shang Lu embraced a whole bunch of roses. She already liked roses, and now she couldn’t resist constantly touching the ‘petals,’ saying, “It looks just like the real thing!”
As Shanglu’s words fell, she suddenly remembered something and reached out to hold Chi Yan’s hand. Her gaze fell on the band-aid on his index finger, and she immediately understood, “Did you make these flowers yourself?”
“Yeah,” Chi Yan replied and asked her, “Do you like them?”
“I like them,” Shang Lu became even happier and couldn’t help but keep touching the petals, saying, “Now I have roses too.”
The movie theater was only a twenty-minute walk from Shang Lu’s home, so she suggested walking back.
Chi Yan asked her, “Aren’t you afraid of the cold?”
Shang Lu tightened her scarf to prevent the wind from getting into her neck, holding the roses in one hand and taking Chi Yan’s hand with the other, saying, “This way, it won’t be cold.”
Chi Yan naturally had no reason to refuse and held her hand tightly, saying, “Okay.”
The temperature had risen a bit these past few days, not as cold as it was before.
Walking along, Shang Lu kept looking down at the roses in her arms. It was clear that she really liked them, and she never stopped smiling.
Until they reached a corner, Shang Lu suddenly stopped in her tracks.
She looked at Chi Yan, holding the roses in her arms even tighter, and said very seriously, “Chi Yan, thank you for loving me, thank you for always being willing to love me.”
Chi Yan then reached out to cup her face, using his thumb to tuck away some loose strands at her cheek. His voice was helpless as he corrected her, “Silly, there’s no need to say thank you when you’re loved.”
Shang Lu seemed a bit puzzled and asked, “So what should I say?”
Chi Yan lowered his head and whispered in her ear, “I love you, so say that you love me too.”
“Got it,” Shang Lu smiled at him, looked around to make sure there was no one else, and then quickly kissed Chi Yan’s cheek. She said, word by word, “I love you too.”
Chi Yan reached out to pinch Shang Lu’s face, applying slight pressure with his thumb under her chin to make her lift her head. However, just before their lips met, Shang Lu reached out to block it. In the end, he only kissed the back of her hand.
Chi Yan asked her with a questioning look.
Shang Lu could only point behind Chi Yan.
A child who looked to be about three or four years old appeared out of nowhere, sitting in a children’s toy car, gazing at them with innocent eyes.
Chi Yan immediately pulled back his hand, and Shang Lu took a step back. The two of them felt a bit awkward as they separated. In that moment of eye contact, they both couldn’t help but smile with a hint of helplessness.
Shang Lu walked over and asked, “Little one, why are you here alone? Where are your family members?”
Before the child could answer, a hoarse voice rang out from behind him, “Sweet potatoes, sweetly roasted sweet potatoes!”
The child didn’t speak to Shang Lu but used his feet to push the toy car backward, providing an answer through his actions.
The old man scolded, “Don’t run around. We’ll go home after Grandpa sells all the roasted sweet potatoes.”
Shang Lu turned to look at Chi Yan and then pointed to the small cart selling roasted sweet potatoes.
Chi Yan naturally understood her intention, so he walked over and bought the remaining roasted sweet potatoes. He took the largest one and placed it in the child’s hands, saying, “Hurry home with Grandpa.”
The child happily ate the roasted sweet potato and was then lifted onto the small cart by his Grandpa. After thanking them, the grandfather and grandson gradually disappeared into the night.
“Do you know what day it is for you and me today?” Shang Lu suddenly looked at Chiyen and emphasized, “Not just me, it’s about you and me.”
Chi Yan had initially wanted to say, ‘Happy birthday,’ but after Shang Lu’s clarification, he didn’t know how to respond.
He thought about it but had no answer, so he could only shake his head and say, “I don’t know.”
He shouldn’t forget important days related to Shang Lu and him, but today, apart from Shang Lu’s birthday, he couldn’t think of anything special.
Seeing the self-doubt on Chi Yan’s face, Shang Lu laughed and suddenly let go of ChiYan’s hand, walking briskly in the direction of their home.
She walked ahead, her voice cheerful, “Today is nothing special, just an ordinary day, but I want to spend every day like this with you.”
She liked such simple days.
Holding hands while walking, occasional kisses, beautiful roses, and sweetly roasted sweet potatoes.
Then Shang Lu turned back and smiled as she ran back.
This time, Shang Lu initiated a kiss on Chi Yan’s lips, her bright eyes reflecting the starry sky, but her gaze was solely fixed on him. She said, “Chi Yan, from now on, you have to celebrate every birthday with me.”
Their lips had not parted much, and they could still feel each other’s breath on their faces.
“Happy birthday.”
Chi Yan said this and lowered his head to lightly brush his nose against hers before kissing her again.
rokumi’s note : kyaaa~ this chapter is definitely sweeter than sweetly roasted sweet potatoes 😋
From now on, Shang Lu definitely will always have “Happy” Birthdays.
Awwwww…so happy for her
(Also, Chi Yan’s name is written as Late Ban somewhere in the middle)
Fixed, thanks!
