Part 3 of Chapter 53
Please Like Her 04 – “Don’t listen, it’s not your fault.”
The viewers who are watching the livestream are also angry.
[Can you skip middle school? You should at least complete nine years of compulsory education, right?]
[There are many in remote and impoverished areas who haven’t even attended elementary school]
[Well, there’s nothing we can do. Many older generations think, ‘I gave birth to my child, and I can decide how they should be raised. Nobody has the right to interfere.’ It’s really hard to reason with them.]
[And even if they finish middle school, what’s the point? Haven’t we heard that some who even got into college stayed behind to get married?]
[I really don’t understand. You have legs of your own, and you can apply for student loans for college. Who can stop you if you really want to go?]
[Parents cry, throw tantrums, threaten to commit suicide; how can you resist when you’ve grown up in such an environment? There are many factors to consider, don’t be so quick to judge.]
[But…]
[I think…]
The barrage of comments is getting noisy.
But their thoughts are actually the same, all feeling angry and regretful for those girls who should have had a better life.
Shang Lu’s mood is also somewhat heavy, but she still manages to force a smile and says, “Don’t worry, I will do my best.”
When Shang Lu left the office, she was stunned by the scene outside.
Because at this moment, Ye Lu and Song Zeqian were standing… no, squatting by the door, both in a military posture.
In front of them were Xiao Kai, Xiao Le, and Momo, standing together.
And there was Lin Yanyan, with a complicated expression, standing on the side.
Shang Lu didn’t quite understand and asked Lin Yanyan, “What’s going on?”
Lin Yanyan shrugged and replied, “Xiao Le played a prank on a classmate, and Momo… took erasers from the girls in the class.”
Lin Yanyan hesitated for a moment, but still didn’t use the word ‘snatch.’
And the next second, something even stranger happened.
Xu Ze and Fatty also walked over. Xu Ze had no expression on his face and started squatting immediately.
Fatty, with his chubby head hanging, stood silently on the side, not daring to speak.
Shang Lu looked at Xu Ze and asked, “What’s going on here?”
Xu Ze replied directly, “He was eating snacks during class.”
Before Xu Ze could finish his sentence, he saw Fatty take out another pack of instant noodles from his pocket.
Xu Ze looked at Fatty, and Fatty quietly put the snacks back into his pocket, whispering, “I won’t eat them.”
Clearly, these three people were punished for the mistakes the children they were responsible for had made at school.
It was obviously arranged by the program team, so Shang Lu laughed at them.
Ye Lu immediately became unhappy and said, “I know Xiao Kai is quite well-behaved, but isn’t your child a troublemaker too? You came to the office, why aren’t you being punished?”
“It’s different,” Shang Lu took out the report card she received before the trip from her pocket again and showed it off as she handed it to Ye Lu. “Take a good look, Xiao Mi is the top student in her grade, and I came there for praise.”
Shang Lu put away the report card and wore a helpless expression, saying provocatively, “The child is just too outstanding, there’s nothing I can do.”
This angered Ye Lu, who squatted and imitated punching her in the air.
After speaking, Shang Lu waved at everyone, “You guys stay squatting, I’m leaving, bye!”
Xu Ze cooperated, “Bye.”
Ye Lu said, “You wait! Karma will catch up with you! What goes around comes around!”
Song Zeqian : “…”
He couldn’t be bothered with them.
Lin Yanyan naturally wanted to leave with Shang Lu, but she also remembered the reminder from the program team not to let Xiao Kai and Xiao Le separate, so she had to reluctantly stay and wait here.
But when Shang Lu walked to the corner, she saw that Xiao Mi had already been standing there for she didn’t know how long.
She was somewhat surprised but still smiled and said, “You’re here? Let’s go home.”
“Um,” Xiao Mi responded, her gaze falling on Shang Lu’s hand.
Shang Lu looked at Xiao Mi’s report card in her hand and then said, “Getting first place in the exam is impressive. Is there a gift you want?”
Xiaomi, however, replied, “You don’t have any money.”
Shang Lu : “?”
[Hahaha, why is this kid so savage?]
[Yeah, Lulu, you’re broke now, hahaha.]
Shang Lu grumbled, “I’ll have money when I get back.”
Xiao Mi said, “Then we’ll talk when you get back.”
“Let’s talk now,” Shang Lu persisted, walking alongside her and asking, “Do you like dolls? Or plush toys, the ones you can cuddle with to sleep.”
Xiao Mi didn’t look at Shang Lu, turned her face away, and said, “Childish.”
But she didn’t say no.
On the way, Shang Lu talked about the cute plush toys she had won from the claw machine and how she picked a lucky one to sleep with every day.
But Xiao Mi didn’t pay much attention.
Because what kept replaying in her mind were Shang Lu’s words of support before leaving the classroom and Shang Lu’s proud boasting in front of those annoying adults.
It was strange.
This was their first meeting, right? So why was Shang Lu so protective of her in front of those annoying people? Even though she seemed so repulsive, Shang Lu was always so enthusiastic about talking to her.
Children of this age couldn’t hide their true feelings no matter how mature they tried to appear. Xiao Mi couldn’t help but ask, “Why… are you so good to me?”
“Hmm?” Shang Lu didn’t immediately grasp the question, but after thinking for a moment, she replied, “I think you’re a bit like me, but I hope you don’t become too much like me.”
Although she was the top student in the class, Xiao Mi didn’t quite understand the meaning behind Shang Lu’s words, and she furrowed her brows slightly.
Shang Lu smiled at her and said, “For example… I used to really enjoy watching ants.”
The girl had a small face, barely the size of a palm. Her skin was slightly darker, and the stray hair on her cheeks was blowing in the wind, partially covering her eyes. She still didn’t understand and asked, “Why did you watch ants?”
Shang Lu shrugged and replied, “Because when I was a child, there was no one at home to talk to me, and I was very bored, so I could only talk to ants.”
As she spoke, Shang Lu took off the decorative hairpin she had been wearing and helped the girl tidy her hair, putting it on her and pinning back the unruly strands.
Xiao Mi instinctively reached out to remove the hairpin, but Shang Lu held her hand.
Looking at her earnestly, Shang Lu said, “You look very pretty this way.”
Looking at Shang Lu’s eyes, it was a sincere compliment.
So XIao Mi pulled her hand away, didn’t say anything, but didn’t take off the hairpin either.
And then suddenly.
A piece of candy was placed in her hand.
This time, Shang Lu took the lead and said, “Let’s go, let’s go back.”
Xiao Mi held the candy in her hand and touched the hairpin on her hair again.
Although she still didn’t quite understand Shang Lu’s meaning, her furrowed brow had gradually relaxed without her realizing it, and she followed Shang Lu.
However, at this moment, the program team gave Shang Lu a new task.
She needed to take Xiao Mi home, pack the clothes Xiao Mi needed for the next two days, and then they could return to the home used for recording.
I’m wondering if Lulu will adopt Xiao Mi
