Becoming Popular Through The “All Villains” Variety Show – Chapter 52 Part 3

Part 3 of Chapter 52

Please Like Her 03 – Shang Lu cries even louder than the children

After the guests dragged their luggage back to their rooms and just sitting down for a short break, the program team called them together again and announced that they had arranged six local villagers who were waiting for them at the door. They would form one-on-one mutual assistance groups from now on.

When they opened the door and saw their “villager teammates,” everyone had the same look of confusion.

Because at the door, there were six children of varying heights and sizes.

The youngest one looked like they were only three years old, and the oldest one looked like they were about eight or nine years old.

Ye Lu looked at the children with an expression of incomprehension and turned to the director’s team. “You call these village teammates? None of them even as big as my shoe size, right?”

[I knew the program team couldn’t be reasonable! These aren’t teammates; they’re clearly just deadweight, hahaha.]

[One-on-one? What can that three-year-old kid do to help them? The program team is really pulling their leg, hahaha.]

[The main point is, Ye Lu’s math is pretty good.]

But the program team responded seriously, “Teacher Ye Lu, please show some respect for your teammates.”

Ye Lu : “…”

Well, he had nothing to say to that.

The program team then introduced the basic information of these six children.

There was a three-year-old girl named Miaomiao, the youngest child here, with a seemingly gentle and timid personality.

There were seven-year-old twin boys, Xiao Kai and Xiao Le, who looked extremely similar, and you couldn’t even tell them apart from their appearance. However, the two boys had completely opposite personalities. At the moment, the older brother had a cold and indifferent expression, while he was holding down his younger brother, who seemed to have some form of hyperactivity.

Then there was a chubby little boy named Fatty, who was only six years old today but was as round as a small ball.

Another girl of the same age was named Momo. She was also slightly chubby but still within a healthy range, and she looked adorable with her big round eyes that seemed to be curious and eager to communicate.

The last one is a girl who appears to be only about eight or nine years old named Xiao Mi. She’s very thin and has a bit of a dark complexion, but the program team told them that Xiao Mi is already twelve years old this year.

Xiao Mi is the most indifferent person here, not looking at anyone else in the room. Her face is full of impatience as she just stares at her own feet.

They also received their first task from the production team.

To tidy up the opposite room and provide a livable environment for the children, each person is responsible for cleaning one room. Once they finish cleaning and receive approval from the program team, they can prioritize choosing their ‘helpers’ for their team.

However, when they arrived at the opposite room, the production team informed them of the different shortcomings of those six children.

Miaomiao is young and very timid, easily frightened, and taking care of her would require the most effort.

The twin siblings appear normal now, but they are almost always together, and once separated, the younger brother may engage in some mischievous behavior, while the older brother hardly speaks to anyone other than his younger brother.

Fatty is the most pampered child here. He usually lives with his grandparents in the lower village, but his maternal grandparents live in the upper village. They have only this one baby, so he gets good food and drinks every day. He throws tantrums if he gets hungry.

Although Momo looks cute, she has a bad habit of lying and won’t admit it even if caught.

As for Xiao Mi, her age is a bit different from the other children, and she’s the top ‘troublemaker’ here.

Her personality is very strange, and she doesn’t have any friends in the village. Even her grandparents, who raised her, refer to her as a ‘weirdo.’ She’s the most challenging among the six children.

These six children are not very popular in the village.

The program team paid them a certain amount, and they were invited to participate in this episode with their guardians’ permission.

Lin Yanyan immediately understood and said, “The older brother of the twin should go to Xu Ze. Let’s see who can hold out longer!”

The rules are clear, and each child’s personality is clear, so the first round officially begins.

Everyone is racing against the clock to clean their assigned rooms, except for Shang Lu, who is taking it slow and easy.

The PD asked, “Does Teacher Shang have any children she prefers to choose?”

As Shang Lu spread out the sheets on the bed, she replied, “Any of them is fine; I think they’re all cute.”

The PD was surprised and reminded her, “Some of these children are not easy to get along with.”

“Oh?” Shang Lu pondered for a moment and asked, “We don’t have many easygoing people on our show either, do we?”

[Hahaha, Shang Lu : Suddenly being sarcastic]

[I think I understand what Shang Lu means now; she really has no intention of picking these children.]

[Shang Lu makes a valid point; they were all unpopular people selected by internet users, and now these children are also unpopular in the village. Their situations are quite similar.]

[After recording so many episodes, everyone has gotten along much better. Internet rumors may not be reliable, and village gossip may be just as unreliable.]

[This is why I like Shang Lu. She’s genuinely kind and warm-hearted, always considering others.]

Among this group of guests, Jiang Jing was the first to tidy up her room. She then chose the youngest, Miaomiao.

Because Miaomiao was closest in age to Jiang Jing’s daughter, as a mother, Jiang Jing naturally wanted to take good care of Miaomiao, much like she would for her own daughter.

Song Zeqian chose Momo for a simple reason: “I’m considering preparations for a new movie. I want to write a character who can lie, and since the program team said so, I’ll take a reference.”

[!!!]

[Is Director Song starting preparations for a new movie? I’m a bit excited.]

[Han Cheng and Yue Qi has been living on the set for the past two years, and Song Zeqian has been relatively quiet this year. Is he finally considering shooting a new film?]

[The performance of his last film was a big blow. Honestly, I’m curious if Director Song’s new movie will have a different style.]

[I’m a fan of Director Song; when it comes to realistic themes in China, he’s the best! He’s not afraid to tackle anything.]

[I am too. As long as Director Song releases a movie, I will definitely go to the cinema to watch it. Director Song’s first three works are must-see classics for film students. I was really saddened to see online comments saying he has lost his touch. I hope he can come up with even better works and return to his peak.]

Although Shang Lu’s movements were not particularly fast, because she had Ye Lu and Lin Yanyan, who were even worse at cleaning, she still tied for third place with Xu Ze.

Xu Ze let her make the first choice.

Shang Lu thought for a moment and said, “I’ll take Xiao Mi.”

Netizens were very surprised.

[Shang Lu actually chose Xiao Mi? I remember the program team reminded them that Xiao Mi is the most challenging among these kids.]

[I agree. The other kids are not that old, and they can be a bit aggressive, but Xiao Mi is twelve years old. A kid at this age is as stubborn as a bull.]

The PD conveyed the netizens’ confusion.

Shang Lu replied, “I’m the first ranked female, so I want to choose the first ranked female here too.”

Netizens understood.

[Translate : Shang Lu : I’m the most difficult to deal with, so I’ll go for the biggest troublemaker! How admirable!]

[Sister Lu’s life, fearless of challenges!]

[Indeed, for Shang Lu, it’s really not a big deal. The worst-case scenario is that Shang Lu and Xiao Mi cry together1 (joking)]

[The previous scene comes to mind again, previous commenter is so wicked, hahaha]

  1. 不是多大的事 means ‘not a big deal’ but sounds like ‘cry together’ ↩︎

  1. I think she probably empathizes with these kids and that’s why she wants to take on the biggest outcast.
