Do You Still Hate Her? 36 – Escape Room [Completed]
The loudspeaker’s voice rang out again :
“Countdown : Thirty seconds”
Upstairs, all the footsteps came to a halt. It was evident that the students chasing them had all reached the staircase, waiting for the signal to rush down and catch them.
Shang Lu turned to her cameraman and had him stand together with Song Zeqian’s cameraman, leaving Song Zeqian with the final words: “Wait for them to catch up before going in.”
The next second, something unexpected happened. Instead of hiding, Shang Lu quickly turned and ran towards the corridor, clutching the bag she had been holding all along.
Shang Lu opened the door to the nearest room in the corridor, swung it open, and positioned herself to the side. What happened next was out of their sight.
As the loudspeaker announced,
“Countdown ends, pursuit begins.”
A group of students rushed down from upstairs, and the corridor instantly became crowded.
Because Song Zeqian was too conspicuous standing there, these students all charged towards him.
Song Zeqian took a step back, one foot inside the elevator, looking ahead, but his peripheral vision couldn’t help but glance at the door where Shang Lu was hiding.
And the next second, a figure dressed in a black school uniform with a messy wig burst out from the door, following the group of students from behind.
The wig covered Shang Lu’s face as she reached out with both hands, chasing after the students in a more frenzied state.
Song Zeqian : “…”
He finally understood why Shang Lu was so confident that she wouldn’t lose.
Among this group of students, Shang Lu was the one who acted the most convincingly. If he didn’t know that it was Shang Lu who had rushed out, he wouldn’t have recognized her at all.
At this moment, Song Zeqian suddenly had a new appreciation for Shang Lu’s acting skills.
She could not only be the main character but also seamlessly blend into the surrounding crowd and become one of them.
Song Zeqian took another step back and entered the elevator completely.
The doors closed, and he was safe.
At this moment, the speaker made an announcement.
“Student Song Zeqian, successfully escaped from the school, and cleared the game.
“The final countdown to the end of the game: ten minutes.
…
“Countdown ends.
“The game is over.
“Student Shang Lu and Ou Yi have hidden perfectly, judged as survivors, and have successfully cleared the game.”
In an instant, all the lights came on.
The game has come to end completely.
The students who were anxiously looking for Shang Lu saw a traitor among them.
NPCs playing as students : “?”
Online viewers in the live stream : “!!!”
[Oh my, did I miss something? How did Shang Lu end up among these students? Hahaha.]
[Thank goodness she was in the black school uniform. If it was the white one, she couldn’t hide at all. Haha.]
[Man, I was wondering where Shang Lu had gone and why didn’t she bring the cameraman with her. This is hilarious.]
[If you can’t beat them, join them. If there’s no time to hide, join the search team. Shang Lu seamlessly merged with the enemy.]
Then the staff took Shang Lu to the room where the live broadcast was being watched and reunited her with the others.
The organizers of this escape room explained the background script to them.
The silent truth behind it all wasn’t just simple school bullying; it was a complete chain of the flesh trade.
Parents thought they were sending their children to a place that would reform them, but in reality, it was hell.
From the principal to the school director, all the school leaders were involved, first breaking these already fragile children’s spirits with strict punishment and various forms of torture. After they had physically and mentally collapsed, they presented them with a ‘choice’ : become a good student and treat their bodies as commodities to serve the privileged.
—”This isn’t a big deal.”
—”As long as you endure a few times, as long as you become obedient, you can get out of here.”
Even though it’s a deformed and wicked environment, as long as everyone bears the same pain, it seems to turn into reasonable rules that can exist and even be taken for granted.
These are a group of underage children. If they want to ensure that this secret is never leaked, they must first completely break down the children’s psychological defenses and develop ‘moles’ within among the students to brainwash each other mentally.
In order to live better, even a little better, the weaker ones turn their knives against the even weaker ones.
That is, until some students can no longer bear the mental pressure, so they agree to die together. The suicide game begins in every corner of the campus, becoming their way of liberation.
The departed souls cannot rest in peace. They don’t want to see new junior students suffer as they did, believing that survival is not better than death. So fear and resentment pervade the campus because of these ghosts, and more and more students choose death.
But after they escape, these ghosts realize that there is a possibility of ‘resistance.’ It turns out that there are not only the two choices of acceptance or death. So they target the living school leaders, leading to a somewhat heavy climax.
The staff announced : “So, in this game, based on the number of survivors, with Teacher Shang Lu representing the third-party camp, <The Most Hated Her and Him> group, and <Love Is Love> group, the score is 1:1:1, which means it’s a tie.”
Everyone : “?”
The staff continued to explain : “Because besides Teacher Ye Lu and Teacher Tang Qingqing, who are also from the third-party camp, the production team has two other undercover agents, Teacher Wang Hanfei and Teacher Ou Yi, who are undercover agents for each other. Although… their gameplay didn’t reveal this at all, the rules are indeed like this. But because Teacher Shang Lu performed exceptionally well, there will be a small privilege in tomorrow’s game.”
Wang Hanfei, who was mentioned, felt like a startled bird. He instinctively touched his hair and didn’t dare to make a sound, wishing the whole world would forget about him.
Yan Zijiao sneered, his eyes full of mockery.
[Hahaha, it’s a tie today?]
[I didn’t see the undercover agent at all this time, haha. Wang Hanfei was eliminated early by Shang Lu and became an NPC, and then immediately killed by Shang Lu. Ou Yi didn’t have any presence throughout the show. The production team really knows how to pick undercover agents. Both sides indeed have very evenly matched strength.]
[I don’t care about the game result anyway. Today, I just want to say Shang Lu is amazing. From intelligence to acting skills to speed of action, she’s dominating the entire field!]
After a moment of silence, Shang Lu didn’t seem to have much reaction to this result. Instead, she asked, “So where is Ou Yi?”
Others only realized at this point that Ou Yi wasn’t here.
Another staff member in charge of finding Ou Yi replied with frustration, “Ou Yi is still hiding in the wardrobe. Whenever we try to call him, he thinks we’re there to catch him and desperately crawls into the secret passage, not listening to us at all. We can’t communicate with him.”
So the scene switched to Ou Yi’s livestream room.
Ou Yi sat in the closet, holding a talisman to his forehead and muttering continuously, “Shang Lu, Shang Lu, Shang Lu…”
Everyone : 😳
Yu Su : 😑 1
Shang Lu slowly covered her face with one hand, unable to continue watching.
Ye Lu asked without giving any face, “Is he crazy? Why is he chanting Shang Lu’s name?”
Netizens could answer Ye Lu’s confusion.
[Did everyone forget what Shang Lu said to Ou Yi before leaving? Shang Lu told him to chant the name of the person he trusts the most to protect him. Obviously, Ou Yi trusts Shang Lu the most, hahaha]
[Ou Yi’s fans can responsibly tell everyone that he really hasn’t stopped chanting until now.]
[We’ve been listening to him chant for an hour now, and all that’s left in our minds are the words ‘Shang Lu.’ Who understands this 😣?]
[This is too absurd. Watching Ou Yi’s devout expression and Shang Lu’s speechless look, I laughed so hard that all the neighbors came out to dance in the square together.]
[But Ou Yi chanted Shang Lu’s name for an hour and wasn’t caught. He managed to survive until the end without doing anything and became one of the last three to clear the game!]
[I get it, so in a way, Shang Lu really is Ou Yi’s benefactor, hahaha]
- he should have the same expression as everyone but… well, his eyes are way smaller than everyone else’s so different emoji was used. ↩︎
The author never passes the opportunity to roast Yu Su, huh?! 😅🤣
And +1 to Ou Yi building a shrine 🤣🤣
Thank you for the chapter
At this rate, Ouyi would build. Shrine dedicated to Shanglu 😂
Escape room story background feels a bit too dark for some reason…😅 I’m glad to know it’s a made up story and not some based on true story kinda thing…though there was an institution in korea that did this monstrous thing to children with disabilities, I could never bring myself to watch the movie adaptation of it
