Some would write the website link in the middle of the text so that readers reading from the Pirated sites can come down and read it in the original. There are also some methods where they block copy/paste and instead of texts, they upload picture or something similar.
I have no suggestions I even have to admit to reading some novels on aggregator sites (because the original source went missing) I just hope you don’t let it discourage you.

That sounds like utter hell for accessibility. Screen readers will all break and spout gibberish, and people using tools like firefox reader to make the font huge due to bad vision will struggle to read it through the nonsense. it’ll be even worse if you’re dyslexic and trying to change the font to a dyslexia friendly font like opendyslexic – you’ll have the same problem as the half-blind folks, except they have *dyslexia* so the superfluous letters are just gonna screw them even worse…
And after all that – it would barely be effective. You can just copy paste the mess, chuck it into chatgpt saying “fix this text” and it’ll scrub it all right out… heck. I’m pretty sure pirates use automated web scrapers. What’s to stop them from adding an openai key to their scraper to just completely automate that step and not even think about it? chatgpt would probably even fix grammar mistakes on the way…
in summary. it’s just like every DRM ever – screws legitimate users and pirates get the better product, utterly unaffected…
If I were you, I’ll do like one of my friends:
After finishing writing the text in word, he use Ctrl+h to replace all space with a letter, generally a or e while making sure that the color is white.
After, he replace a select few back to space so that the text descend smoothly.
You should note that this method isn’t always working because depending on the website, it can show up ( sometimes in dark mode sometimes in light mode) and disturb the reader’s immersion. Never less, if correctly used, even if only once in several chapters, can enable the user to stop the copying of the text, because he’ll need to manually remove the a or e that you placed in white or else the text with end up unreadable

If I were you, I’ll add white text in the middle. Somebody I know did this ( for some website it will undone the formatting or not
work in dark mode so it’s just a suggestion):
He basically write his text in word
After finishing writing, he use Ctrl+h to replace all “space” with a letter ( generally a vowel) without forgetting to change the text color to white
After that, he add well placed “space” on the text or remplace a few of the previously replaced text back to space so that the text can descend normally
As such, after somebody copy his work, the copied results will needs to be manually edited
You should note that this recommendation is not foolproof and is just a suggestion
