After the Socially Anxious One Married the Control Freak – Chapter 37 Part 2

Video (2/2)

In the afternoon, Su Zesui was diligently working on a physics competition problem in the office.

The “learning resource” tutorial was too complicated—it involved changing file extensions, downloading extra software, and so on. Since Brother Gong Chuang said it wasn’t an online course, Su Zesui decided he’d wait until he got home that evening when he had more time.

Meanwhile, Gong Chuang—nearly dying of curiosity—was still hovering around Gu Yilan.

“Hey, bro, does your back hurt?” Gong Chuang asked casually.

After receiving a cold side-eye, he hurried to patch things up: “No reason, just… I noticed you sit for long periods. That’s not great for your back. I know a good massage place—want to go tonight?”

“My back is fine,” Gu Yilan said flatly. “No need for your concern.”

“Then… any other aches or pains?” Gong Chuang tried probing again.

Gu Yilan was nothing like the easily duped Su Zesui.

He stopped adjusting the equipment in front of him, narrowed his dark eyes, and looked directly at Gong Chuang: “What did Su Zesui tell you? Or… what did you tell him?”

“Nothing, nothing at all!” Gong Chuang waved his hands frantically.

After so much scheming with Su Zesui, he’d forgotten that Gu Yilan was playing on an entirely different level. He couldn’t even hide the tiniest thing from this man—let alone confront him face-to-face like this.

“Bringing me cushions, pouring hot water, asking if my back hurts?” Gu Yilan raised an eyebrow, though his obsidian eyes remained completely devoid of warmth.

“What exactly is going through that head of yours?”

“I—I…” Gong Chuang wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear now that he’d been seen through.

Gu Yilan fixed him with a sharp, warning gaze. “He’s very innocent—completely clueless. Don’t fill his head with nonsense.”

“I-I didn’t!” Gong Chuang said, clearly guilty.

Seeing how far he’d embarrassed himself already, he decided to just go all in and asked, “Then what stage are you two at? Can you at least tell me that?”

“There’s no ‘stage’.” Gu Yilan replied coolly. “He’s just a younger brother.”

“Younger brother? So… nothing at all?” Gong Chuang was stunned. “Don’t tell me—not even a kiss?”

“Nothing. Not even held hands.”

Gong Chuang nearly dropped the scientific instrument he was holding.

He had never been more grateful for his sixth sense.

Thank God he rushed to retract that tutorial message in time. In the end, it had all just been a false alarm he’d created for himself, with no real consequences. If it had gone any further… Gu Yilan might have actually killed him.

He should’ve known—how could anyone possibly top Gu Yilan? That idea was more horrifying than aliens from The Three-Body Problem invading Earth.

Still, he couldn’t help but think that the few WeChat messages from Su Zesui were seriously misleading…

Even so, Gong Chuang breathed a sigh of relief.

. . . . .

In the evening, just after he got home, he suddenly received a message from Su Zesui:

[(o^^o): Brother Gong Chuang, what does “dry wood and raging fire” mean?]

Gong Chuang, in the middle of brushing his teeth, froze. His toothbrush dropped straight into the sink.

This was a crisis… but also an opportunity.

He quickly picked up the toothbrush, rinsed his mouth, then grabbed his phone to type. He didn’t even have time to ask what “Brother hurts a lot.” had been about—his only thought now was damage control:

[Brother Gong Chuang: It’s something from the video I sent earlier. I later deleted the tutorial because I realized you’re still a bit young for this kind of content.]

[Brother Gong Chuang: Little brother, please don’t search those kinds of words online anymore.]

[Brother Gong Chuang: When the time is right, your Brother—Gu Yilan—will explain everything to you. Trust me.]

Su Zesui looked at the WeChat messages on his tablet, frowning in confusion. After a short hesitation, his gaze drifted to his phone where the video was still loading.

He had only asked because Gong Chuang had earlier called himself a “theoretical expert guy,” which had given him the courage to bring up his questions. He hadn’t expected that just a few hours later, the other person would already be unwilling to explain things.

Su Zesui hugged his tablet and lay face-down on the big bed in the master bedroom, all alone.

He had already followed every step of the “video tutorial,” and now he was just aimlessly waiting for the learning video to finish loading.

While waiting, he passed the time playing little games on his tablet.

But partway through, a strange sound—moaning, panting, breathy and indistinct—suddenly filled the room. It didn’t sound like anything a normal person would make.

Su Zesui froze. He lifted his head from the tablet and looked around, bewildered—

Who? Is someone here?

But the room was still empty.

Then, as if something clicked, he picked up his tablet and looked underneath it—at his phone.

And without any warning whatsoever, three entangled bodies, moving in and out of each other, filled his screen.

Su Zesui’s hand trembled violently, nearly smashing the tablet onto the phone.

Half an hour later…

Su Zesui rubbed his flushed cheeks, tossed his phone aside, and buried his face into the soft pillow—beginning to question the entire world.

He felt like he had just opened the door to some strange and terrifying new dimension.

In the video, the person on the bottom looked like they were in a lot of pain—they were crying, saying “no, please don’t,” over and over. But the other two were horrible. No matter how the person begged, they ignored it completely.

——So this… was the so-called “dry wood and raging fire”?

——How was it nothing like the sweet and affectionate interaction he had imagined?!

It looked painful. Brutal, even.

Right now, Su Zesui’s mind was spinning with only two questions:

First, there were only two people—him and Mr. Gu. If they wanted to have “dry wood and raging fire,” would they need to bring in a third person?
Like… Brother Gong Chuang, maybe?

Second, what role was he supposed to play in this “dry wood and raging fire”?

He suspected he might be the “bad guy,” because Brother Gong Chuang had once told him not to let Mr. Gu get hurt.

But he didn’t want to be the bad guy.

Su Zesui’s head was a mess, like it was stuffed with glue.

He wanted to think it through logically, but given that he had nearly zero experience in this area, even trying to reason it out got him nowhere.

By 11:30 that night, still dazed and distracted, he took a shower, mumbled a “goodnight” to Mr. Gu, and drifted off to sleep.

And unsurprisingly, given all the strange thoughts in his head, he had a nightmare—one directly related to the video.

In his dream, he was the one being bullied, a poor little thing, tossed back and forth between two versions of Mr. Gu, who tormented him over and over until his entire body ached.

The Gu Yilan in the dream was no longer the gentle one he knew—he was heartless. No matter how much Su Zesui cried or begged for it to stop, he didn’t care. Su Zesui sobbed helplessly, legs kicking in panic.

It was too real.

Too terrifying.

By around 6 AM, Su Zesui jolted awake, gasping for breath as he pushed himself upright with his arms.

His pupils were unfocused, his mind still caught in the nightmare.

His pajamas were soaked in sweat, and his body felt strange—especially one particular spot, which was more uncomfortable than it had ever been before.

He shook his head, then glanced down toward the ache between his legs—
And froze completely, eyes wide with confusion and fear.

Just then, the movement startled Gu Yilan awake as well.

Shaking off his drowsiness, he sat up and was just about to ask what was wrong—
when a warm, fragrant body suddenly collapsed into his arms.

“Brother…” Su Zesui sobbed softly against his chest, trembling, “I feel so uncomfortable…”

Their skin was pressed closely together, and the boy’s body was soft and warm—Gu Yilan could clearly sense the change in him.

Freshly woken, he paused for a second, then fully sobered up.

“Brother, am I… am I dying?” Su Zesui’s voice was shaking, full of panic. “What’s wrong with me?”

He was terrified—convinced that he was being punished for not listening to Brother Gong Chuang. That he’d been struck down with some terminal illness.

Gu Yilan blinked, stunned. He hadn’t expected Su Zesui to be completely clueless about something this basic.

But he quickly calmed himself. Gently patting the boy’s trembling back, he said in a steady voice: “It’s okay.”

“Wuwuwuwu…”

Su Zesui was still shaking all over, tears soaking Gu Yilan’s shirt. Clearly, he didn’t believe him at all.

After a moment’s hesitation, Gu Yilan swallowed and said in a low voice,
“It’s okay. I’ll teach you how to handle it.”
