Chapter 34 – Heat
The clean scent of wheat mixed with the warmth of their tongues. In the living room, only the two of them remained, lingering in this closeness.
Lin Yan naturally lifted his arms and hooked them around Lu Heng’s neck. Lu Heng wrapped an arm around Lin Yan’s waist and pulled him completely into his embrace.
His hand slid from Lin Yan’s waist up along his back.
The searching touch stirred something sharp in his heart. Lu Heng held him even tighter, unable to restrain his need.
Their noses brushed past each other as their soft lips met again.
Lost in the moment before him, Lu Heng half-closed his eyes, his lashes forming a thin curtain that blurred the expression on the other’s face.
The muffled sounds at Lin Yan’s throat teased him, making him want more.
He pulled back just a fraction — and Lin Yan followed. The kiss deepened again and again.
In Lu Heng’s mind, there was only one thought:
It’s not enough.
This isn’t enough.
There could be more.
His hands began to explore, lightly touching through the thin layer of fabric. The sensation at his fingertips sent wild stimulation straight to Lu Heng’s mind.
He turned his head and followed the line of Lin Yan’s neck downward.
Lower, lower—his lips searched for the Adam’s apple and left a soft kiss there.
A wave of tingling numbness rose, making Lin Yan’s eyes flutter. He lifted his head slightly, both hands sliding into Lu Heng’s hair.
The pads of his fingers were brushed again and again by short strands of hair. The realness of the touch stirred the restless emotions in his heart.
This wasn’t the first time the person in his dreams had been President Lu.
Lin Yan always felt that when he got drunk, he was bound to have such dreams. But in the end, they were only dreams — and in his dreams, he could indulge as much as he wanted.

That soft voice made Lu Heng suddenly push Lin Yan away.
The sudden movement made Lin Yan groan, feeling extremely uncomfortable.

What was he doing?
The rush in his mind shattered all at once. He stopped, and Lin Yan collapsed into his arms.

Lin Yan’s soft body rested against him. In his dazed state, he whispered, “President Lu… why do you always appear in my dreams?”
That single sentence made Lu Heng’s ears burn.
It also made him smile faintly. Really?
To appear in such a special kind of dream to Lin Yan…
So perhaps, to Lin Yan, he was more than just a cat.
One hand closed around Lin Yan’s shoulder, the other at his knee. With both arms, he lifted Lin Yan up.
After settling him on the bed, Lu Heng gently placed a kiss on his forehead.
“Good night, Lin Yan.”
An uneasy thought lingered in his heart. Everything he had done, every reaction he had shown — he could no longer deny it.
He was in heat.
That was why he had behaved like that toward Lin Yan.
He returned to his own place and took a cold shower, forcing the restlessness in his body down.
After searching through his phone’s browser, he reached a final conclusion: He really was in heat.
The only difference was that other cats went into heat for female cats — and he was… somewhat special.

After everything was tidied up, Lin Yan packed his things and got ready to leave. Before going out, he glanced at the surveillance camera and saw that it was still working and pointed at his room.
Satisfied, he left. Later, while at work, he could adjust the camera and see what Meiqiu was doing at home.
The camera required a paid membership, otherwise only a few seconds of footage would be saved to the cloud each time.

Secretary He: [Engineer Lin, President Lu has notified that you will be accompanying him on a business trip to Liaocheng tomorrow.]
Lin Yan replied: [Received.]
Secretary He: [All approvals have been submitted in the system. Please make sure to arrange your schedule. A car will come to pick you up tomorrow.]
Lin Yan was thrilled when he read the message. Just yesterday he had been thinking about how long it had been since he’d gone back to see his mother — and today he received this news.
His heart felt light and happy.
Beside him, Gu Han asked curiously, “What’s up?”
“Nothing.” Lin Yan couldn’t suppress the smile at the corners of his mouth.
“Want to go eat together tonight?” Gu Han invited him, then added quickly, “I’ve already invited the rest of the department too.”
Lin Yan hesitated for a moment, then said firmly, “I won’t go. I’m leaving on a business trip tomorrow — I need to go home and pack.”
