The First Love of The Male Lead’s Deadly Rival – Chapter 36 Part 1

The next afternoon, there was a parent-teacher meeting for all the third year classes of Fifth High School.

Mother Jiang and Mother Yan had a good relationship, so they sat together, listening to the teacher’s analysis of the students’ performance. Both Jiang Yumo and Yan Qing had similar grades, slightly above average in the class, neither outstanding nor lagging behind. Although their exam results would not bring pleasant surprises, there wouldn’t be any unpleasant shock.

Usually, the homeroom teachers focused on students with good grades or those who had bad grades.

Yan Qing once complained that students like them, who were in the middle range, were like the second child in many families with three children. The eldest child above them was reliable, and the youngest child below them was mischievous. As a result, the attention given to them, the second child, was minimal.

Mother Jiang and Mother Yan didn’t say it out loud, but they were satisfied with their daughters in their hearts.

They were familiar with the procedures of the parent-teacher meetings.

Some working parents actually didn’t want to come, but in order to support the school’s emphasized concern for the third year students, they took the time to attend.

After the meeting, Mother Jiang and Mother Yan planned to go shopping together.

Both of them had just gotten their hair done and walked hand in hand downstairs. It was currently break time between classes, and Duan Ye and the others went to the supermarket to buy water. They coincidentally ran into Mother Jiang and Mother Yan when they returned to the school building.

If they were to come across Jiang Yumo, then Guo Shichao and Zhao Zheng would definitely tease and joke around.

But now it’s Jiang Yumo’s mother… They wouldn’t dare to act recklessly in front of their elders and could only be as quiet as a chicken, trying to show how well-behaved they were.

Duan Ye had met Mother Jiang several times before, but he still felt somewhat at a loss. It was indeed the parent-teacher meeting today, but he didn’t expect to come face to face with Mother Jiang directly.

Mother Jiang smiled and nodded at Duan Ye in a straightforward manner, as a way of greeting.

Duan Ye stiffened and subconsciously bowed to Mother Jiang.

Mother Jiang didn’t speak to Duan Ye and instead led Mother Yan, who still wanted to size up Duan Ye, away.

Only after they were out of sight, Duan Ye finally breathed a sigh of relief, and Zhao Zheng and Guo Shichao finally dared to speak up. “That scared me, Brother Duan. Did you just run into your future mother-in-law?”

Duan Ye frowned. “Don’t talk nonsense.”

Guo Shichao chuckled. “If you ask me, it’s because of Sister Mo. She has already paved the way with her parents.”

No wonder Brother Duan likes Sister Mo so much.

Who wouldn’t like a girl like her? She wouldn’t think that a bad student like Duan Ye liking her was something that needed to be concealed. She would always be straightforward and unafraid of anyone knowing.

Duan Ye ignored the two of them and instead lowered his head to look at his own attire for the day.

A loose, dark gray long-sleeved shirt and black pants.

Although he knew he wasn’t dressed unusually, he still breathed a sigh of relief. Then he touched his crew cut…

Duan Ye never wore strange clothes, nor dyed or permed his hair.

On the other side, Mother Jiang walked hand in hand with Mother Yan on the campus asphalt road.

Mother Yan couldn’t hide her gossip-loving heart and enthusiastically said, “That boy surnamed Duan is quite tall and good-looking. You scared him just now.”

Mother Jiang helplessly said, “I didn’t expect to run into him either. He looks taller compared to last semester.”

“Looking at these little ones, I always feel old.” Mother Yan touched the corner of her eye. “By the way, I got a beauty treatment card. How about we go for a facial together in a few days?”

“You’re getting a card again? Haven’t you had enough?” Mother Jiang said. “The last time you got a hair salon card, I saw that they had turned it into a steam bath place.”

“I’m so annoyed about that. I still have a few hundred bucks left on it,” Mother Yan waved her hand. “Forget about that. This boy surnamed Duan has been with Yumo for a long time, hasn’t he?”

“What do you mean by with her?” Mother Jiang rolled her eyes and explained emphatically, “They are just friends, ordinary friends, you know? Momo promised not to talk about relationships before the college entrance examination.”

“Didn’t they like each other?” Mother Yan had also heard some things from her daughter.

Mother Jiang sighed, “I really can’t stop them. Despite Momo being usually well-behaved and obedient, this child is straightforward, serious, and loyal. When she was young, I bought her a rabbit to raise. That rabbit got sick and died later, and she cried a lot. Her dad and I tried to console her and offered to get her another rabbit, but she refused. At that time, she had just started kindergarten, and afterward, she refused to raise any pets no matter what. When we asked her why, she said she didn’t want to forget that rabbit and it would be sad if it saw her raising other pets from heaven.”

Mother Yan chuckled, “She’s quite cute.”

“She’s stubborn and insists on her own reasoning,” Mother Jiang said. “After discussing with her dad, we felt it wasn’t right to intervene too much. As long as she handles the situation well, as parents, all we can do is remind her and protect her from the sidelines. But ultimately, she has to walk this path on her own.”

Hearing this, Mother Yan also responded with a melancholic tone, “Everyone has their young days. You’re doing the right thing. If you make a great effort to break them apart, it might have the opposite effect. Their future is in their own hands. However, they are still kids. Today, they might be head over heels in love, but they might move on after some time.”

Mother Jiang nodded, “That’s the only way to think about it.”

During lunch break, Jiang Yumo and Duan Ye went to buy food together.

Sometimes they would eat with just the two of them.

They bought several snacks from the cafeteria, including pan-fried buns, teppanyaki, and a bowl of mixed rice. It was Duan Ye who invited her, carrying the takeaway box while Jiang Yumo walked beside him. The two of them crossed the back mountain of the school and arrived at a small hill. The weather in October was pleasant, and the evening sun was exceptionally beautiful.

Two people sat on a small hill, listening to the sound of birds flapping their wings in the trees behind the hill.

A gentle breeze rustled, carrying the scent of green grass, creating a particularly pleasant atmosphere.

Back in their second year of high school, they used to go to the rooftop of the school building to watch the sunset, have their meals, and enjoy the breeze. However, in that year, there was a third year student who felt a lot of pressure and almost committed suicide by jumping. The school responded by locking the door leading to the rooftop and forbidding students from going up there again. Thus, their secret sanctuary was lost.

Fortunately, they now had this small hill.

Not many people came over to this side.

The patrolling teachers also need to eat, so they won’t come here at this time.
