The Escaping Little Snow White Ferret from the Black Moonlight Camp – Chapter 25

Chapter 25 – Sweetheart from the Sky: The Gentle CEO’s Sweet Kiss (25)

Dan Xiaowen’s mind blared with alarm—how could it be Bai Mo? Was he the young master of the Dan family?

Not only was he stealing her man outside, but now he was coming home to steal her position as well. Her dislike for Bai Mo deepened. She forced a smile, trying to relax her stiff facial muscles.

“Bai Mo… what are you doing here?” No, that couldn’t be. Maybe he was just here to take care of He Yuning.

Xiao Bobao, rarely making a sound, chimed in gleefully, “Oh ho! Someone’s not happy.” If the female lead wasn’t happy, she was. What a great day—definitely worth celebrating with hot pot.

Bai Mo’s expression remained blank. “If you can be here, why can’t I?”

The hint of mockery in his tone sent Dan Xiaowen’s heart sinking like a stone. Her freshly done nails dug into her palm, but she couldn’t feel any pain.

“I was just surprised,” she forced out a smile and placed the tray of refreshments on the table. “If we had known earlier, we would have brought you home sooner so you wouldn’t have had to suffer outside…” She shifted her gaze to He Yuning.

“These are gifts for Bai Mo. Ning Ning, you shouldn’t touch them,” she said, noticing the child unwrapping presents. She reached out to pick him up.

Children were highly sensitive to emotions. If Bai Mo didn’t like someone, neither did He Yuning. He slapped away Dan Xiaowen’s approaching hand and pouted, “I don’t want Auntie to carry me! I want Brother Mo to carry me~”

No young woman could tolerate being called “Auntie.” Dan Xiaowen’s face turned ashen, her rationality clouded by that single word. She instinctively wanted to teach him a lesson.

The child wailed and quickly hid behind Bai Mo. “Brother Mo, that Auntie is so mean! She wanted to hit me!”

Under the light, Dan Xiaowen’s sharply manicured nails looked particularly menacing. Just imagining them digging into flesh made Bai Mo shudder.

The young boy tilted his head up and met her gaze. “Respecting the elderly and loving the young is a traditional virtue.”

The unspoken meaning was clear—bullying a child? How immoral.

“Mo Mo is absolutely right! I told you, reading more books has its benefits,” Xiao Bobao said smugly. She was quite pleased with the strategy she had set for Bai Mo. The little snow ferret, who had once known little about the human world, had now learned how to insult people without using a single curse word.

“How could I possibly hit Ning Ning? Ning Ning is so adorable.” Adorable, my a*s. If I could, I’d smack this little brat to death.

Respect the elderly and love the young? Yeah, right…

Suddenly, a thought flashed through Dan Xiaowen’s mind. She looked at Bai Mo with a gaze full of malice.

You were the one who said it. Let’s see if you can truly uphold ‘respecting the elderly’ and ‘loving the young.’

At that moment, He Yuchi returned with a pair of scissors, catching sight of Dan Xiaowen’s retreating figure. A look of distaste flickered in his eyes.

As soon as He Yu Ning spotted his brother, his little legs rushed over to complain.

“Brother, that Auntie is bad…”

He Yuchi picked up the child. His good upbringing kept him from speaking harshly to Dan Xiaowen, but he didn’t bother being particularly polite either. He issued a direct dismissal.

“Miss Dan, don’t you have work today? Mo Mo is under my care; there’s no need for you to worry.”

He stepped aside slightly, making it clear she should leave.

“Brother Yuchi, you’ve misunderstood me! I just came to deliver some snacks…” Dan Xiaowen bit her lip, looking pitiful. “If I did anything to make Bai Mo misunderstand me, I sincerely apologize.”

She even gave a bow, perfectly portraying her gentle and tolerant persona. Too bad not a single person in the room believed her.

After she left, He Yuchi leaned in close to Bai Mo and placed a light peck on the boy’s soft lips. “She didn’t give you any trouble, did she?”

Who was Bai Mo? He had once single-handedly taken down a disgusting man who tried to harass him. If the female lead had really made a move, there was no doubt about who would’ve ended up on the ground.

“No, but she was acting hostile. I have this feeling she’s targeting me,” Bai Mo said, his intuition sharp as always. He couldn’t quite figure out what Dan Xiaowen was planning, but that smile she had flashed earlier sent a chill down his spine.

Xiao Bobao pounded her chest in assurance. “Don’t worry, Mo Mo! I’ll keep a close eye on the female lead—she won’t get away with anything under my watch!”

“Then keep an extra close eye on her. I really don’t like the way she looks at Ning Ning.” The little snow ferret responded through his divine sense.

Whatever Father He and Mother He had discussed with Old Master Dan remained unknown. But by the time they were called to dinner, the two families had already agreed on Bai Mo and He Yuchi’s engagement.

Dan Sihe wore a dark expression, lowering his voice to warn He Yuchi, “Don’t get too cocky. It’s just an engagement—nothing else is set in stone.”

For now, let’s at least secure the person first. The rest can be dealt with later.

In an excellent mood, He Yuchi completely ignored Dan Sihe’s provocation. With a dazzling smile, he called out the one title Dan Sihe least wanted to hear: “I’ll make sure this uncertainty is settled as soon as possible, dear brother-in-law.”

Dan Sihe maintained an expression that looked as if he were suffering from constipation all the way until mealtime. However, the moment he became the first person Bai Mo ever served food to, his frustration instantly vanished.

All his efforts over the past few days had paid off. As an older brother, he did have a place in Momo’s heart.

“Brother, eat up~” Bai Mo had long gotten used to the constant rivalry between Dan Sihe and He Yuchi. Whenever one of them lost the upper hand, he would step in to comfort them, ensuring their psychological well-being.

Old Master Dan watched, eyes red with envy, as Bai Mo served food to Father He, Mother He, and both He Yuchi and his brother. By the time Bai Mo had gone nearly full circle around the table, Old Master Dan thought it should finally be his turn.

Just as Bai Mo reached toward him with food, the old man excitedly raised his bowl—only for a pair of chopsticks to snatch the dish right in front of him.

“Dad, this is your favorite,” Dan Xiaowen said sweetly. She had noticed how Old Master Dan treated Bai Mo far better than he treated her, and for the first time, she felt a pang of panic. No matter what, she had to hold onto her place in the Dan family. The best way to do that? Appease the old man.

She had picked up a piece of meat for him, but Bai Mo, seeing that Old Master Dan’s bowl had no more room left, smoothly redirected his chopsticks and placed the dish into Dan Sihe’s bowl instead. His voice was soft and sweet:

“Brother, eat more. You’ve been working hard.”

That was my meat, you little brat! Old Master Dan glared at Dan Sihe, who was thoroughly enjoying his younger brother’s care, completely unfazed by the old man’s eye daggers.

Old Master Dan felt utterly wronged. That was clearly meant for him, yet Dan Sihe had stolen it away! The more he thought about it, the more irritated he became with Dan Xiaowen for interrupting at the wrong time.

They say old people are like children—Old Master Dan was no exception. He needed someone to coax him. He quickly finished off the food in his bowl, deliberately avoiding the dishes Dan Xiaowen offered him, and eagerly looked at Bai Mo, full of anticipation.

“Mo Mo, look at Daddy—Daddy’s bowl is empty.”D

As Bai Mo made another round serving food, it finally reached Dan Sihe’s turn again. Old Master Dan, who had been watching eagerly for a long time, could no longer hold back. With swift reflexes, he pushed Dan Sihe’s bowl aside and extended his own, just in time to catch a single chopstickful of leafy greens.

Bai Mo looked up at the old man and blinked. Old Master Dan, still holding his bowl in place, blinked back.

“Oh, so Daddy loves vegetables~!” Bai Mo immediately grasped Old Master Dan’s deep appreciation for greens and enthusiastically piled his bowl with even more leafy delights.

Perfect. The vegetables were gone, everyone was full, and that meant the remaining roasted chicken, braised duck, steamed fish, red-braised pork, and lion’s head meatballs… were all his.
